WHUR hosted the 10th annual WHUR-FedEx Military and First Responders Mothers Luncheon on Thursday.
The annual project which was halted during the coronavirus pandemic, was created to honor the mothers who serve our country and make so many sacrifices.
The years event was held at The Point DC and all of the service members in attendance were able to dine with a beautiful waterfront view.
The day included food and prize giveaway.
WHUR and FedEx have hosted the luncheon for more than a decade inviting active duty and veteran women from all of the different branches of the military to join us. WHUR’s very own Lorna Newton has been the MC for the event for over a decade. Newton, who is a veteran herself with a family full of service members, said that the event always touches her heart.
In addition to lunch each mom received carnations, a gift bag, along with WHUR and FedEx goodies. With the assistance of lovely local businesses like Lee’s Flower Shop and The Point DC, the event went off without a hitch.
