World Hypertension Day 2022!

May 17 is World Hypertension Day!

“High blood pressure (hypertension) is a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease,” according to Mayo Clinic.

The disease impacts nearly half of adults in the US but many people who have the condition are not aware, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There are huge racial disparities when it comes to hypertension. Black women and men are the most likely to have high blood pressure.

Symptoms may include fatigue, headaches, nosebleeds and shortness of breath.

Many of the risk factors of high blood pressure include age, obesity, family history, and using too much salt in your diet.
