Roots Picnic 2025: Star-Studded Lineup Shines Despite Rocky Start at The Mann in Fairmount Park

The Roots Picnic 2025 kicked off at The Mann in Fairmount Park with some early hiccups long lines and a delayed opening left attendees frustrated. However, organizers quickly responded with an apology and implemented changes to streamline the entry process, including adding more Roots Picnic ambassadors at the front gates to assist guests.

Despite the rocky start, the festival delivered an unforgettable weekend of music. The lineup featured powerhouse performances from Lenny Kravitz, Meek Mill, Maxwell, Tems, Miguel, Jeezy, Crystal Waters, CeCe Peniston, and many more. Sunday’s schedule went off without a hitch, culminating in a high-energy headlining set from Kravitz.

Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, Roots frontman and co-founder of the festival, reflected on its growth:
“This is something that started as an idea, as a notion, 18 or so years ago,” he shared. “To have naturally evolved into what it is today, it’s huge. It’s nothing that we take for granted.”

Despite the forecast, the Roots Picnic remains one of the most anticipated festivals of the year.
