In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court rejected today the Trump administration’s attempt to add to the 2020 U.S. census form a question asking people if they were U.S. citizens. The case now goes back to the lower courts and the the Census Bureau to establish a stronger reason why the question should be on the form.
The high court also ruling in a case that affects Maryland, stating that it should not be involved in the issue of gerrymandering. Stating that the re-drawing of legislative districts is a political question to be handled by the states and not the courts.
