(Lorton, VA) — After pounding the picket lines for the last three months, workers at the Metrobus garage in Northern Virginia are back to work. The workers, represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689, overwhelmingly approved a new contract which provides increased wages, better health care and pension benefits. Workers returning to their jobs today will be required to attend route retaining sessions with full bus service likely to return early next week. Union officials say the training is meant to re-familiarize returning drivers with their routes.
