Eva Marcille was in attendance at the Road to Essence DC event on Saturday and WHUR had some time to catch up with her!
Marcille, who currently hosts on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show said, “Black music is the sound track of my life — I mean hands down. If I can think of any amazing moments, sad moment, or indifferent — there is a song that is there.”
The America’s next top model winner said that her father and grandfather were jazz musician’s so it was an integral part of her life. She added that her mother was huge lover of R&B and her appreciation of the gospel came from going to church.
“Black music literally is the foundation of where we find our pride, our joy, our happiness, our memories — I love it,” she said.
Happy Black Music Month!
