Lizzo To Host SNL And Perform As Music Guest On Same Night

By Brooks Welch

On Monday, the long-standing live comedy show ‘Saturday Night Live’ announced three consecutive hosts for April including Jerrod Carmichael, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Lizzo.

Lizzo will be the host and musical guest on April 16th, joining Janet Jackson (2004) and Queen Latifah (2004), as the 3rd Black female entertainer to pull double duty in Saturday Night Live’s 47 season long history.

Gunna and Camila Cabello have also been announced as musical guests on April 2nd and 6th.

According to Pitchfork, Lizzo made her Saturday Night Live debut in December 2019: She performed “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell” during an episode hosted by Eddie Murphy.

Lizzo’s Saturday Night Live appearance will be on the heels of finishing a new album, which she gleamed about on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

“I’m excited. You’ve just announced you finished the album. The album is done!” Corden said as Lizzo lifted her arms in celebration. “Three freaking years, baby!” said Lizzo. “I feel amazing.” (via People)

The Grammy winner premiered a snippet of her new song ‘About Damn Time’ on the show. Corden danced with Lizzo and other show guest, Gabrielle Union.

Lizzo also announced her new competition reality show “Watch Out for the Big Girls,” to find confident women to dance on her world tour. The show debuts March 25 on Amazon Prime.

Tune into Saturday Night Live, April 16th on NBC.
