Nia Long Among ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards Honorees

The 15th ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards will honor Nia Long, Aunjanue Ellis, Quinta Brunson and Chanté Adams.

According to VIBE, The 15th ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards will honor Nia Long, Aunjanue Ellis, Quinta Brunson and Chanté Adams.

According to Variety, ESSENCE CEO Caroline Wanga released a statement saying, “For 15 years, our Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards has heralded the strengths and accomplishments of Black women who are making an impact in Hollywood. This year — as we highlight the Black Cinematic Universe — our four honorees each exemplify the power, life and joy that is a direct reflection of our community. We are also thankful for our partners for supporting our vision as we continue to shine a light on the beauty and resilience of Black women everywhere.”

Nia Long is an American actress most known for her roles in the ‘Friday’ franchise, ‘Love Jones,’ the ‘Best Man Holiday’ franchise, ‘Boyz N The Hood,’ and ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.’


Quinta Brunson is an American comedian and writer most known for her self-produced Instagram series ‘Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date,’ work with BuzzFeed, and creator, executive producer, and actress on ABC’s ‘Abbot Elementary’

Aunjanue Ellis is an American actress, writer, and producer most known for her roles in ‘Notorious,’ ‘Ray’, ‘If Beale Street Could Talk,’ ‘When They See Us,’ and most recently ‘King Richard’

Chanté Adams is an American actress most known for her roles in ‘Roxanne Roxanne,’ ‘The Photograph,’ ‘Bad Hair,’ and ‘A Journal For Jordan’

The annual awards honors the contributions of Black women entertainers, actresses, and creators in the entertainment industry. This year’s host is Damson Idris of ‘Snowfall.’

Tune into the The Black Women in Hollywood awards airing on Essence.com March 28 starting at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT.

Reported by Variety, preceding the award show on March 25, ESSENCE will continue their ESSENCE Hollywood House. The live experience features actors, executives, journalists, and other creatives in the industry. “ESSENCE Hollywood House provides Black creatives – aspiring and established – with a platform to educate, collaborate and empower one another with a purpose,” a quote from the ESSENCE website.
