(Washington, DC) — Mayor Muriel Bowser reportedly traveled to Augusta, Georgia over the weekend to promote sports and economic development in DC. The mayor’s public schedule shows the Saturday trip and her staff acknowledged yesterday that she attended the Masters golf tournament while there. The invitation to the Masters reportedly came from the chairs of a task force working to revitalize the Gallery Place and Chinatown area. A spokesperson tells DC News Now, the airline flights to and from Augusta were paid for using city funds, though the cost of the flights was not released. The spokesperson also reportedly said the mayor is willing to travel wherever necessary to advance her administrative interests.
