Prince George’s Seeing A Violent Start to 2024

Prince George’s County, Maryland (Tuesday, January 10, 2024) – Prince George’s County police are investigating another murder. The latest violence happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of Berrywood Lane in Springdale. Police say an adult male was found inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead one the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s name or any information surrounding a suspect.

That violence comes on the heels of another fatal shooting Tuesday night in Fairmont Heights. Police say 18-year-old Olamide Olakanye of Upper Marlboro was found around 11:20 p.m. in a car suffering from gunshot wounds in the 5300 block of Sheriff Road. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Authorities believe Olakanye was actually shot in the 1200 block of Dunbar Oaks Drive and drove himself to Sheriff Road where crashed into a wooded area. No arrests in either of those cases.
