VA Closer to Abolishing Death Penalty

A conference committee still has to work out some differences including the issue of parole.

The Virginia Legislature is abolishing the death penalty. The House of Delegates voted in favor of the measure today with two Republicans joining Democrats in the 57-41 vote. The Senate abolished the death penalty earlier this week and Governor Ralph Northam is planning to sign it. A conference committee still has to work out some differences including the issue of parole.
