DC Reinstating Indoor Mask Mandate

Washington, D.C. (Monday, December 20, 2021) – D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is declaring a state of emergency in the city and is reactivating the city’s indoor mask mandate as COVID cases spike.  Mayor Bowser is also upping the mandate for city government employees to get fully vaccinated and boosted.  Bowser says workers will no longer have the ability to opt out.

The decision comes as infections spike across the city.  Friday, DC reported over 800 new cases.  City health officials say the increase is of concern.  But said the District is poised to handle the influx while at the same time again urging the unvaccinated to take the shot.
