MSNBC confirmed yesterday that the next Democratic presidential debate will be held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. The network will host the debate with The Washington Post.

Atlanta’s mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, played a role in this. She lobbied national party leaders to choose the the city over suburban locations, according to the Atlanta Constitution-Journal. With her help, the studio beat a “newly opened $250 million complex near Atlanta’s airport.”

“With people of color being the cornerstone of the Democratic Party, Atlanta remains set to provide a large portion of votes for our eventual nominee,” she said in her pitch.

Stacy Abrams, the 2018 Democratic Georgia governor nominee cosigned the debate’s choice on Twitter.

The debate will be November 20 at 9 pm on MSNBC. Viewers can watch on the network, or the live-stream from MSNBC.com, the Washington Post’s website, and the news outlets’ mobile apps.
