Starz Adds Three More Spinoffs To ‘Power’ Franchise

Starz is producing four spinoffs for the popular drama Power. 

The first spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost, has the official cast and a teaser released. It is slated to premiere this summer on Starz. This series will star Mary J. Blige and Cliff “Method Man” Smith. Returning from the original series is Michael Rainey Jr. as Tariq St. Patrick, Shane Johnson as Cooper Saxe, and Naturi Naughton as Tasha St. Patrick.


Other new faces to the Power family are Paige Hurd (The Oval), Melanie Liburd (This is Us), Justin Marcel McManus (Star), Woody McClain (The Bobby Brown Story), Lovell Adams-Gray (Coroner), and LaToya Tonedeo (The Oath), according to Deadline.

“These new and exciting chapters will continue the journey of some of Power‘s most controversial characters while featuring a growing ensemble of complex, distinct characters along with the high-octane drama that set Power in a class of its own,” says Starz’ president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch in a statement according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The next three spinoffs announced are: Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Influence and Power Book V: Force. A premiere date or trailer has not been released for those, yet.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan is described as “the prequel story that takes viewers back to the ’90s and the early years of iconic Power character Kanan Stark. Power Book IV: Influence which follows Rashad Tate (played by Larenz Tate) in his ruthless pursuit of political power. Power Book V: Force follows Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) after he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good, according to Shadow and Act.
