Chris Rock, who was infamously slapped by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars, has not ruled out hosting the Oscars again despite the incident.
Reportedly, Chris Rock, when asked about hosting the Oscars again, in his first appearance at a Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty he stated, “You never know. This is what I would say: the most miserable people on earth are people that can’t forgive.”
Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, leading to the altercation with Smith. Smith later apologized for his behavior, acknowledging that violence is unacceptable and inexcusable.
Rock finally addressed the incident in a Netflix special, joking about the slap and his response to it. “You all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith,” he said.
Smith was banned from attending any event related to the Academy for 10 years and resigned from the organization.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Tuesday, March 4, 2025) – Black leaders are gathering across the country today for what they are calling a “State of the People 24-Hour Address.” It is a live stream featuring some of the nation’s top Black activists, journalists, and elected leaders to give their assessment of the nation’s conditions while providing an alternative to the State of the Union.
The 24-hour address began March 3rd at 11:59pm and will run through March 4th at 11:59pm. Some of the leaders scheduled to speak are Joy Reid, journalist; Elected officials; Angela Rye, Native Land Pod; Andrew Gillum, Native Land Pod; Stacey Abrams, lawyer and former Georgia State Representative; Ibram X. Kendi author; Ben Crump, civil rights attorney; Jaime Harrison, Former Party Chair of the DNC; Clay Cane and Reecie Colbert, news personalities; Monique Pressley, trial attorney and legal analyst; and Tamika D. Mallory, activist and founder of Until Freedom;
President Trump is reportedly planning to sign an executive order making English the official language of the United States.
While English is the most commonly used language in the country, the U.S. has never had an official language at the federal level. The president’s plan to sign the executive order was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Republican members of Congress have previously attempted to pass legislation declaring English the official language, and many states have already designated English as their official language.
During his campaign, Trump criticized the influx of other languages into the U.S., stating that some of these languages were unfamiliar to Americans.
A $131 million grant to UNICEF’s polio immunization program supported the delivery of vaccines to millions of children. Other projects included a contract for bed nets and malaria treatments, community health worker efforts in Yemen, and tuberculosis medications provided by the Global Drug Facility.
According to the New York Times, “People will die,” said Dr. Catherine Kyobutungi, executive director of the African Population and Health Research Center, “but we will never know, because even the programs to count the dead are cut.”
Additionally, H.I.V. care projects in Africa, Ebola contact tracing in Uganda, and medical supply distribution in Kenya were impacted by the funding cuts. Numerous health initiatives, such as water provision in conflict zones and malnutrition treatment programs, faced severe consequences due to the termination of funding.

According to US Magazine, Ne-Yo is open with his seven children about his polyamorous relationships with four women, answering their questions honestly.

Rachel Maddow criticizes MSNBC for canceling Joy Reid’s show. She also condemned the network’s treatment of staffers facing layoffs amid a programming overhaul. Maddow called the situation “unnerving” and emphasized the importance of supporting coworkers.
Reid’s firing is claimed to be a part of a broader revamp at MSNBC under new President Rebecca Kutler. “ReidOut” will be replaced by a show co-hosted by Symone Sanders, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez.

Washington, D.C. (Sunday, March 23, 2025) – Howard University students are stepping up in a big way to provide service and hope during challenging times. They are preparing to head into more than 22 U.S. cities next Saturday for their 31st Annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB), a program where 1,300 Howard students will put in 150,000 hours of volunteer service at schools, community centers, and non-profit agencies. The effort got a big boost Sunday thanks to the generosity of WHUR listeners who donated more than $45,000 during the station’s Annual Helping Hands Radiothon.
The 12-hour fundraiser was held at the studios of WHUR, right on the campus of Howard University from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. WHUR radio personalities Winston Chaney, Jacquie Gayles Webb, Anthony Brown, and DJ Iran were joined by Newscasters Bremante Bryant, Renee Nash, and Harold Fisher calling on their listeners to support ASB by donating on-line or stopping by the radio station to drop off a cash, check, or credit card donation.
More than 400 listeners heeded the call making the Howard University student mission to go into cities like Baltimore, Trenton, New Orleans, Nashville, and right here in the Washington area possible.
“It feels good to know that we still have community members who are willing to support our students as they serve in those 22 communities,” said Joseph Dillard Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Outreach in the Office of the Dean of the Chapel. The Howard University Chapel has operated Alternative Spring Break for 31 years. “As I told the students, the work that they are doing is significant and important not just us, but to people all around the world. So the funds that we raised today ensure that all 1,300 students are able to go on ASB at no cost to them or their families.”
Monies raised from the Helping Hands Radiothon will go to offset the costs of students volunteering. Costs include transportation, meals, and lodging. ASB 2025 is March 1st thru March 8th. More than 26 busloads of students will head out Saturday volunteering more than 150-thousand hours mentoring and tutoring youngsters. They will also rebuild and help to restore neighborhoods around the country and right here in the DMV.
According to CBS News, an email was sent from the Office of Personnel to federal workers asking, “What did you do last week?” The email instructed them to respond with a list of five things they did last week with brief details.

Roberta Flack, legendary pop/R&B vocalist, passed away at the age of 88.
Known for iconic hits like “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” Flack was a Grammy-winning artist who broke boundaries and records in the music industry.
She won Grammys for Record of the Year in back-to-back years for her hits. Clint Eastwood used her song “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face” in “Play Misty for Me.
Inspired by gospel music and studying to become a classically trained singer-pianist, at 15, received a full scholarship to Howard University.
Her smooth, soulful style brought her multiple chart-topping hits in the early ’70s, holding six top-10 pop singles and 10 top-10 R&B singles. She continued to record music into the new millennium, releasing her last album in 2012.
Flack’s legacy as a talented singer and pianist will be remembered by fans and peers alike.

Ms. Voletta Wallace, the mother of the iconic Christopher ‘Notorious B.I.G.’ Wallace, has passed away Friday, February 21st, TMZ reported.
She was in hospice care in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and the causes of death are reported as natural causes.
After her son’s tragic death, she continued to embrace his legacy and touched the lives of many with her grace and resilience.
Angela Bassett portrayed Ms.Wallace in the 2009 hit Notorious, the life and death story of The Notorious B.I.G.

According to AP News, Luigi Mangione , accused of fatally shooting the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in NYC, is set to appear in court for the first time since his arraignment on murder and terror charges.
The hearing will provide updates on the case and may set deadlines for pretrial paperwork and a trial date. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to multiple murder charges and faces federal charges that could lead to the death penalty.
The state charges are expected to go to trial first, with a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania carrying a gun matching the murder weapon and a fake ID, expressing hostility toward the health insurance industry.
Mangione said: “I am overwhelmed by — and grateful for — everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support. Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions.”
Defense lawyers argue that different jurisdictions have turned Mangione into a “human ping-pong ball” and accuse officials of tainting the jury pool.

HuffPost reports a Delta plane on a flight from Minneapolis crashed while landing in Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. All passengers and crew are said to be accounted for. The plane landed upside down on the runway, injuring 18 passengers, some critical.
The airport confirmed the incident after social media users shared images of the upturned plane with smoke. Delta reported no fatalities, with 21 injured passengers taken to hospitals. The flight, operated by Endeavor Air, carried 80 people, and three passengers suffered critical injuries.
The crash occurred amid recent FAA personnel firings by President Trump, raising concerns about aviation safety.
According to CNN, the acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration, Michelle King, has resigned following a dispute with Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service over access to government records.
King, who had been with the agency for more than 30 years, stepped down from her role as acting commissioner over the weekend. The disagreement with Musk’s company led to her departure from the position.
White House spokesperson Harrison Fields announced her replacement Monday: “President Trump has nominated the highly qualified and talented Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration, and we expect him to be swiftly confirmed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the agency will be led by a career Social Security anti-fraud expert as the acting commissioner.”
Nancy J. Altman of Social Security Works expressed her concerns: “If there is an evil intent to punish perceived enemies, someone could erase your earnings record, making it impossible to collect the Social Security and Medicare benefits you have earned.”
PEOPLE reports Jay-Z is suing lawyer Tony Buzbee for defamation, civil extortion, and intentional infliction of emotional distress following the dismissal of a lawsuit alleging assault by Jay-Z and Diddy.
Jay-Z claims the lawsuit was strategically timed to coincide with his daughter’s premiere and resulted in financial losses and reputational damage. “I felt that Mr. Buzbee was placing a gun to my head that I either bow to his demands or endure personal and financial ruin,” the rap mogul wrote in his declaration.
The rapper is determined to hold Buzbee accountable and protect his legacy amid ongoing legal battles. When the original lawsuit occurred Oct. 20, 2024, an unnamed woman alleged that in 2000, after the VMA’s Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter assaulted her in a New York City residence in front of a celebrity female, celebrity whom remains unnamed.
Following the dismissal of the case, Carter made a statement: “Today is a victory,” he wrote. “The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone,” he continued. “The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY (Tuesday, February 11, 2025) – A boil water advisory is in place for some customers in Prince George’s County because of a water main break. WSSC says the impacted areas now including communities North and East of MD 4 along with all areas South of Maryland Route 4.
The problem is also forcing some schools in the impacted areas to close immediately. Prince George’s County Public Schools just released the following list of schools that are now closing:

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, denying the Chiefs a third consecutive Super Bowl victory.
Jalen Hurts led the Eagles with a strong performance, completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 72 yards and a score.
The Eagles’ defense dominated the game, sacking Patrick Mahomes six times and intercepting him twice.
Philadelphia’s victory marked their second Vince Lombardi Trophy, with a final score of 40-22.

Antwon “Noochie” Vincent is a rapper, producer, and visionary from Southeast Washington, D.C., known for blending hip-hop, go-go, and R&B into an authentic and raw musical experience. As the son of OneWay Boobe, a pioneer in the D.C. rap scene, Noochie was raised in a household that embraced both music and entrepreneurship, laying the foundation for his creative journey.
Noochie is the creator and executive producer of Live From the Front Porch, a groundbreaking live performance series that has featured artists such as Chance the Rapper, Anderson .Paak, Cordae, and Robin Thicke. Recognized by BET for its impact on hip-hop’s live performance culture and acknowledged by Rolling Stone for its growing influence, the platform has become a vital space for artists to showcase their craft in an unfiltered, intimate setting.
Beyond his work as a curator, Noochie has built an impressive career as a recording artist. His projects, including Product of the DMV and the Sneaky Tape series, highlight his lyrical depth, storytelling, and deep connection to his city’s culture. His presence in the industry reached new heights in 2024 when he attended the Grammy Awards for his contribution to Kings From Queens: The Run-DMC Story, which was nominated for Best Music Film.
With a major Live From the Front Porch showcase set for the Kennedy Center and the upcoming Front Porch Festival, Noochie continues to push boundaries, blending music, culture, and community in ways that redefine independent artistry. Prior to launching her entrepreneurial career, Angel worked in educational leadership and youth advocacy roles as a teacher at the Oak Hill Youth Academy, and as a counselor, and later Vice Principal, at a DC Charter School. She is co-founder of DC Natives Day, an official holiday recognized by Mayor Muriel Bowser to recognize and highlight the presence and contributions of DC Natives to the culture and fabric of Washington, DC., and now owns Black + Forth, the city’s first Black-owned strip mall offering community education and affordable commercial space for Black business owners.
