Donald Trump Signs Anti-Transgender Troops Order

Donald Trump signed an executive order directing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to revise the Pentagon’s policy on transgender troops, likely setting in motion a future ban on their military service.

Trump also ordered troops to be reinstated who had left voluntarily or been booted for refusing COVID-19 vaccines, outlined new rollbacks in diversity programs, and provided for the deployment of a space-based missile defense shield for the U.S. Trump’s order on transgender troops sets the stage for a future ban, citing conflicts with military readiness.

The order also includes plans for a space-based missile defense system and reinstatement of troops who refused COVID-19 vaccines. The order also abolishes diversity, equity, and inclusion programs across the Defense Department and Coast Guard, aiming to eliminate race-based preferences and divisive concepts.

Transgender rights advocacy groups are planning to file a lawsuit against President Trump’s executive order targeting transgender service members, marking the first legal challenge to this policy.

The order, which questions the suitability of transgender individuals for military service, is being contested by GLAD Law and the National Center For Lesbian Rights on constitutional grounds. The order prohibits the use of pronouns in the military but leaves unanswered questions about the fate of transgender soldiers currently serving.

This legal action represents a significant pushback against Trump’s conservative agenda at the Pentagon.

Congress Passes Laken Riley Act

ABC News reports,The Republican Party’s Laken Riley Act, aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, is set to be the first bill signed into law by President Donald Trump after the GOP regained control of Congress and the White House.

The bill passed the House and Senate with bipartisan support, but faced opposition from Democrats who raised concerns about deporting individuals accused but not convicted of crimes. The legislation includes measures to deport illegal immigrants who assault police officers or cause serious harm to others, and allows states to sue the Department of Homeland Security over harm caused by illegal immigration.

The bill is named after Laken Riley, a nursing student killed while out on a run. The suspect Jose Ibarra, 26 an illegal immigrant who pled not guilty, was previously arrested in New York. Ibarra was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of all charges.

Riley’s case has become a focal point of the GOP’s efforts to address border security and immigration issues in line with Trump’s agenda.

Nelly Defends His Donald Trump Performance Amid Criticism

Nelly performed at Donald Trump’s Liberty Inaugural Ball, where he sang a medley of his hit songs. The event also featured performances by artists like Billy Ray Cyrus and The Village People. Reactions to Nelly’s performance were mixed, with some praising him and others criticizing his choice to perform at a Trump event.

Nelly defended his decision, stating that it was an honor to perform for the president regardless of political views.  Other hip-hop artists also performed at Trump events in the days leading up to the inauguration, including Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and Souljah Boy.

Snoop Dogg’s Martin Luther King Jr. tribute post has sparked backlash following his performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration event. The post, shared on MLK Day, featured clips of MLK speeches and quotes, but many criticized Snoop for seemingly endorsing Trump.

Critics questioned how MLK would have viewed Snoop’s support of Trump, with some pointing to Snoop’s past comments about the former president. The post intensified criticism of Snoop’s performance at the inauguration event, with some comparing him to other artists who have stood by their principles.

Study: Couples Who Joke About Sex Lives Tend To Be Happier With Them

According to People, it was reported in the Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality that couples that find the humor in their sex life are more satisfied.

Through online surveys of 196 people, mostly heterosexual women. The study indicated that couples who share inside jokes or awkward moments have a more comfortable relationship with one another.

“More frequent use of positive relational humor (by self and partner) was associated with more frequent and more positively valenced sexual humor, whereas more frequent negative relational humor use by partner predicted lower relationship and sexual satisfaction,” the study said.

3 DC Officers Shot In NE. Suspect Dead

#Breaking- Washington, D.C. (Monday, January 13, 2025) – Three D.C. police officers were injured in a shooting this morning and a suspected gunman was killed in the 300 block of Florida Avenue in NE.

Police Chief Pamela Smith said the drama began around 4:30 a.m. after officers responded to a 911 call of gunfire in a residential building. During a morning news conference several hours later, Chief Smith said when the officers got to the location they encountered the suspect who then tried to runoff. “The individual jumps on a elevator and goes to whatever floor. He comes back down and then he engages the officers and produces a handgun.” Three officers were struck by gunfire. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are all expected to survive.

“This is yet another reminder of the daily dangers we face in our city and across the U.S. I’m very grateful that our officers were able to get through this particular incident without any further injuries,” added Chief Smith.

The name of the suspected gunman has not yet been released. Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine administrative leave as the incident is investigated.

Trump Sentenced In Hush Money Case With No Fine or Jail Time

Washington, D.C. (Friday, January 10, 2025) – New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan today pronounced the sentence for President-elect Donald Trump in his so-called hush money case. The sentence was without penalty and effectively says Trump will not serve any jail time, pay a fine, or perform any community service for his conviction of falsifying business records. The sentencing means Trump is free to return to the White House although he remains the first U.S. President in history to be a convicted felon.

Legal experts say those felonies will have some impact. Trump will still be able to vote. He is registered voter in Florida. While the Sunshine State bars people convicted of felonies from voting, Florida restores those rights after the felons have completed their sentence with the exception of convicted murderers and sex offenders. Under federal law, Trump cannot possess any firearms and under New York law, Trump will have to provide a DNA sample for the state’s crime data-bank.

Trump was convicted in May 2024 on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

California Wildfires Tear Through Pacific Palisades and Eaton Canyon

Firefighters in Los Angeles are battling multiple blazes in city suburbs, forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate due to Santa Ana winds and dry conditions destroying homes and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate.

The blazes in Pacific Palisades and Sylmar, the largest and closest to the coast, have destroyed over 1,000 buildings. Four major fires are currently being fought, with the Palisades fire rapidly spreading to over 2,900 acres.

Evacuation orders have been issued for more than 30,000 people as firefighters work to contain the blazes. Roadways have become impassable as people flee on foot. Fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, the fires have destroyed structures and prompted emergency responses, with off-duty firefighters calling in to help.

Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency as the fires continue to burn uncontained.

These Celebrities Made Bold Statements At The 82nd Golden Globes

Here are a few looks that brought drama, elegance, and timelessness to the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday evening.

These headturners made statements that we had to highlight. Zendaya served regal elegance in a burnt-orange Louis Vuitton ballgown. Winter Wonderland Covers DC Region

Monday, January 6, 2025 – (Washington, D.C.) – Snow covered sidewalks, streets, cars, and everything else that doesn’t move . That is the scenario across the DMV as the region hunkers down for its first major winter storm of 2025. Every school system in the area is closed Monday giving many students an extended weekend and winter break. While the snow is a welcome for the young and not so young, it can also be a dangerous time for those who are unhoused. DC officials say shelters are open and they are encouraging the homeless population to come inside.

Clint Osborn – Director of DC’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency spoke with WHUR News Director Renee Nash about how DC is handling the snow emergency.
