We analyze the issues and races
These are a lot of issues sending voters to the polls this election season nationally and locally. Tonight we’re going analyze the issues and races as we discuss what’s at stake.
DMV Voters Are Getting It Done On Election Day
Some problems being reported at a few polling sites across the DMV. But for the most part things are running smoothly for those looking to cast their ballots on this election day.
Washington, D.C. (Tuesday, November 8, 2022) – Sitting at home was not an option for DMV voters we spoke to on Election Day 2022. A steady stream of voters could be seen through out the day at voting precincts in DC and Prince George’s County. Here’s a small sample of what a few of them had to say about the importance of exercising their right.
There have been a few glitches reported across the region. Maryland and Virginia have reported malfunctions with some digital polls books that have caused some delays. But nothing major.
Polls are open in Virginia until 7pm. DC and Maryland voters have until 8pm to cast their ballots. If you are in line at closing time, you will be allowed to vote.

The highly anticipated lottery has reached $1.9 billion dollars. The drawing was supposed to be announced Monday evening but according to the California Lottery, the “drawing is delayed due to a participating lottery needing extra time to complete the required security protocols.”
Today, it is coincidental that the Powerball being delayed due to “technical issues, it’s election day , the solar eclipse (last one for 3 years). Now we are all waiting on several results. Did you vote today?

(New York, NY) — The Powerball jackpot for tonight’s drawing is at a level never seen before, one-point-nine billion dollars. This is after no one won the top prize in Saturday’s drawing. There were numerous smaller prize winning tickets sold in multiple states. The odds of winning the big jackpot are one in 292 million.
Six Metro Stations Reopen After Construction Closure
The transit agency also plans to have more trains running before Thanksgiving and improve frequency for Red, Blue, Orange and Silver lines next month.
(Alexandria, VA) — The work week is starting off with six Metro stations reopen along Blue and Yellow lines. Service resumed yesterday after being closed for eight weeks. Crews are building tracks for the new Potomac Yard Station, and repairing the Yellow Line tunnel and bridge. As a fan of the movie Black Panther, it’s safe to say it hit us all hard when August 28, 2020 the news of Chadwick Boseman passing struck. When Boseman played the iconic character T’Challa in Black Panther, we immediately anticipated that Director Ryan Coogler would deliver us a sequel but unfortunately not the untimely death of the main character.
Coogler shared the importance of this screening and what it means to be in DC in regards to Boseman, “Chad identified with this place. His time here had a profound impact on him.” He continues, “I know what bookstore he worked at while he was here and the protest that he led and participated in while he was here. The stories about him here at Howard are legend.”
Sunday, Candice Adkins -Wilson was able to speak to Angela Bassett, Ryan Coogler, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’O , Tenoch Huerta, and Winston Duke as they attended the special screening of Black Panther: Wakanada Forever at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American and Culture.

Metrobus Incident: What Would You Do?
If you were in Kyla Thurston’s shoes, what would you have done?
It’s the viral video that’s making headlines across the country. Kyla Thurston, attacked by at least three teenagers on a Metrobus in southeast DC after she asked them to stop using foul language. Metro’s general manager has personally apologized to her for the incident and metro is looking into the alleged actions or inaction by the bus driver. We’re looking into something else. How could, what appears to be a simple act of correction, escalate into this kind of violence?

Children’s National Hospital Is Near Capacity
More kids are getting sick from RSV and the flu.
(Washington, DC) — A warning for parents in the nation’s capital. More kids are getting sick from RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and the flu. In fact it’s so bad, Children’s National Hospital is nearly full. Officials say they’re dealing with a surge of patients and expect that to continue for a while. This means families wanting to be seen for non-emergencies will have to wait even longer. The hospital suggests in these cases, it might be easier to see a primary care doctor or visit an urgent care.

Prince George’s’ County is kicking off events in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Prince George’s County has rolled out an entire month of activities and initiatives in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s called Prince George’s Goes Pink and highlights the county’s efforts to provide services and resources to those impacted by breast cancer. Joining me this morning to tell us about it is Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.

U.S. Consular Officers Speak To Griner, Whelan
Griner she said she was grateful for support she had received and for those trying to bring her home.
U.S. consular officers are speaking with Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan on the phone today. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the U.S. Embassy hadn’t had access to Griner, who is detained in Russia, since early August. On her 32nd birthday, she said she was grateful for support she had received and for those trying to bring her home. That’s according to a statement from a Russian law firm.

Commanders’ QB Wentz Out For Weeks
Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke is expected to start against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz has been sidelined by an injury to his throwing hand. His right ring finger was fractured during the team’s win against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. He is expected to be out for four to six week. Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke is expected to start against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
