Williams is looking to extend her stay at the tournament.

On Thursday, she’s set to play doubles with her sister Venus, who lost in the singles bracket.

“Whether it was health issues; coming back; having a child; almost dying from that — she has endured it all and she is still in championship form,” Allaster said. “Her records speak for themselves.”

And she brought her baby daughter along for the ride: As she made her traditional post-show bow, wearing a snakeskin-style miniskirt that she designed, she was carrying little Olympia, 2, in her arms.

“To be in yet another final, it seems, honestly, crazy,” said Williams, a six-time U.S. Open champion who will face 19-year-old Bianca Andreescu of Canada on Saturday. “But I don’t really expect too much less.”

“I just tried not to go too big, because I can go so big and I have a lot of power and it’s not always easy to control it,” the 39-year-old Williams said. “So I’m trying to play smart instead of going hog wild, which is extremely easy to do.”

“I still couldn’t find peace. I started seeing a therapist. I was searching for answers, and although I felt like I was making progress, I still wasn’t ready to pick up a racket. “

“I just was so frustrated at that point, because I have been training well. The past week and a half has been really good, and, God, it was, like, ’This isn’t the Serena I have been practicing with — or that I see every day,” Williams said afterward. “I just let out this roar, and here I am. Yeah, so maybe that helped.”
