MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A medical expert says George Floyd died from a lack of oxygen that damaged his brain and caused his heart to stop. Dr. Martin Tobin is a lung and critical care specialist from Chicago. He testified Thursday at former Officer Derek Chauvin’s murder trial that Floyd’s breathing was too shallow to take in enough oxygen while he was pinned on his stomach with his hands cuffed behind his back for 9 1/2 minutes. His testimony came a day after a use-of-force expert said Chauvin had his knee on George Floyd’s neck area the entire time that he pinned

Are Some COVID-19 Vaccines More Effective than Others?

By LAURAN NEERGAARD AP Medical Writer
COVID-19 vaccines rolling out around the world weren’t compared to each other in studies, so it’s hard to tell how they might differ in effectiveness. But experts say they’re alike on what matters most: preventing hospitalizations and deaths. Although studies conducted before the vaccines were rolled out found varying levels of effectiveness, they don’t offer apples-to-apples comparisons. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccine studies, for example, counted a COVID-19 case whether it was mild, moderate or severe. The study for Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine didn’t count mild illnesses and was done when mutated versions of the virus were a bigger concern.

The company says its safety measures go beyond steps taken by others including airlines, hotels and restaurants. Norwegian plans to start U.S. cruises at 60% of capacity and raise that to 80% in August and 100% in September.

Man Asks Woman For Her Instagram Without Realizing It’s Rihanna

What would you do if you saw a beautiful girl and asked her for her Instagram handle only to find out the beautiful girl was Rihanna?

That’s what happened to a man who spotted the singer during a New York protest against Asian hate. After she typed in her Instagram handle the guy looks at his phone in shock, seeing that she typed in @badgalriri, then looks at Rihanna and says, “Is that you?!”

It’s not the man’s fault, however, Rihanna was wearing a baseball hat, sunglasses, and a mask so it would be hard to spot her. The video has since gone viral and racked up hundreds of comments.

One comment read: “Not recognizing her should be a felony but see when you don’t release music in five years.”

HU’s Own Ainae Nielsen Is Competing On “The Voice”

Ainae was born into an Ethiopian-American family that was very musical. Her grandmother ran an admired jazz club, her father was an audio engineer and her mother worked in music marketing. Ainae got involved in her arts community and loved singing, but only thought of it as a hobby while she focused on competitive swimming.
