Idris Elba has been keeping busy with music while Hollywood is shut down and he says he has some releases on the way.

Idris revealed to MistaJam on CapitalFM’s The All-New Capital Weekender he’s been working with Franky Wah and has a banger with Megan Thee Stallion and Davido.

Elba also dreams of the day where he can work with Taylor Swift, who he says he’s known “for a few years.”

“She is an incredibly hard-working person, she isn’t resting on her achievements. To perform live with her would be fun and hopefully, we can make that happen,” said Idris.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say golf star Tiger Woods was injured in a vehicle rollover in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says Woods had to be extricated from the vehicle with the so-called jaws of life tools. Woods was taken to the hospital with multiple legs injuries. The vehicle sustained major damage.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — The mother of Ahmaud Arbery has filed a civil lawsuit on the anniversary of his death that accuses three men charged with chasing and shooting him with violating his civil rights. Wanda Cooper-Jones filed suit seeking $1 million in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, when vigils were planned to mark a year passing since 25-year-old Arbery was slain. Arbery was pursued by white men and shot to death while running through their neighborhood on Feb. 23, 2020. As the three men await trial on murder charges, their lawyers still insist they committed no crimes.

Lee Daniels didn’t want to touch the story of Billie Holiday. “Lady Sings the Blues” already existed. But it wasn’t her full story. Holiday, he’d come to realize, was an unsung civil rights hero who was targeted by the U.S. government for her drug use and her protest song, “Strange Fruit.” It’s this story that’s told in “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. The film, featuring Andra Day’s Golden Globe-nominated performance, debuts Friday on Hulu. It’s the Grammy nominated singer’s first acting role and one she has not been able to shake easily.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta native Gladys Knight will be among the headline performers at the NBA All-Star Game on March 7, performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the pregame festivities. A seven-time Grammy winner who has been vaccinated for COVID-19, Knight will be present at the game. Many other musical performers will appear remotely, including Grammy winner Alessia Cara, who will sing “O Canada” from Toronto.

Idris hopes the new episodes can both enchant current fans and attract new ones, comparing it to “The Wire” or “The Sopranos.” “Snowfall” will air on FX on Wednesday and FX on Hulu on Thursday.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — State lawmakers have given final approval to legislation ending capital punishment in Virginia. Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam is expected to sign the legislation that passed Monday. It’s a dramatic turnaround for a state that has executed more people in its history than any other state. Virginia’s Democratic majority pushed the repeal effort, arguing that the death penalty has been applied disproportionately to people of color, the mentally ill and the indigent. Republicans raised concerns about justice for victims, and said some perpetrators deserve to be executed for especially heinous crimes. If signed into law, the legislation would make Virginia the 23rd state to stop executions.

(Washington, DC) — A glitch is being blamed for causing issues in unemployment benefits. Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser says almost 39-thousand people did not get any of the money they were supposed to get last week. Bowser told reporters today the city will not cover any additional costs, blaming a vendor for what happened. The money is expected to be deposited by Wednesday.

Boeing has recommended that airlines ground all 777s with the type of engine that blew apart after takeoff from Denver this weekend, and most carriers that fly those planes said they would temporarily pull them from service. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration ordered United Airlines to step up inspections of the aircraft after one of its flights made an emergency landing Saturday. Pieces of the casing of the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine rained down on suburban neighborhoods. United is among the carriers that has grounded the planes. The FAA administrator said in a statement Sunday that “the inspection interval should be stepped up for the hollow fan blades that are unique to this model of engine, used solely on Boeing 777 airplanes.”

The Simpsons are known for accurately predicting a lot of major pop-culture moments, and they might have done it again.
After the drama surrounded Ted Cruz and his trip to Cancun, maybe fans of the show looked back at an episode that aired in 1993 titled Marge In Chains.
In it, Springfield’s Mayor Joe Quimby has a press conference telling the public about a pandemic hitting his city.
It is later revealed that he made the announcement remotely while vacationing in the Caribbean.
The mayor’s blue outfit in the episode also looks similar to suits Ted Cruz has worn in the past.

Moet Hennessy is acquiring a 50% stake in rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z’s Champagne brand in an effort to up its cool factor and expand sales. Terms of the deal weren’t released Monday. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, acquired Armand de Brignac in 2014. The brand, produced in France’s Champagne region, is known familiarly as Ace of Spades because of its distinctive label. Moet Hennessy President and CEO Philippe Schaus said Armand de Brignac breaks barriers and reflects contemporary ideas of luxury. Carter said the partnership will help Armand de Brignac grow and flourish.

She posted a photo wearing new Good American shoes and wrote, “New @GoodAmerican shoes are dropping 2.25.”

Stevie Wonder has plans to move to Ghana, permanently. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Wonder says he has a song that he wants to release but he wants “America to do the right thing…I wanna see the nation smile again,” Wonder says he hopes to see it prior to him traveling to Ghana.

Oprah clarifies if Stevie will move permanently to which the Motown legend responded, “I am.”

As to why Stevie picked Ghana, he has visited the Western African country for years and says, “there is more of a sense of community.”

Wonder says America needs five years to right its wrongs, “I don’t want to see my children’s, children’s children have to say ‘oh please like me. Please respect me, please know that I am important, please value me’. What is that,” he asked.

Now that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West over the weekend, it’s being revealed that she may document the days leading up to the divorce on her E! reality show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” as well as on two new series that she recently inked with Hulu and Star.

“Kim is definitely sad but she feels confident in her decision to divorce him because she knows it’s what’s best for herself and her family. She’s already felt like she’s been divorced for months now. It’s been a long time coming and she feels relieved to be able to finally move on,” a source told The Daily Mirror.

Kim’s main concern is her four children who already have been seeing Kim and Kanye separated for quite some time, according to the source, so the divorce won’t be a big surprise to their children.

It’s also being noted that Kim filed for divorce after being “tired of waiting” for the perfect time. Allegedly Kim wanted to file for divorce following Kanye’s disparaging comments about slavery, his presidential run, and his comments about aborting their oldest daughter.

After her election win, Kamala Harris walked to the stage to deliver her speech with Mary J. Blige’s “Work That” playing in the background.
During a recent interview, Mary talked about the moment.
She said, “I was buggin’, I was so surprised because people was calling me, I didn’t know what the hell was going on. I spoke to my sister the next day, she was like, ‘Yo! Kamala Harris just came out to ‘Work That.” I said, ‘Work That?!'”

Janet Jackson surprised UCLA gymnast Margzetta Frazier with a Facetime call to congratulate her on her viral floor routine.

Jackson shared the Facetime on Twitter Friday, (February 19th) where she “thanked” Frazier for making her want to be “better and stronger.”

Frazier expressed to Jackson that the call meant “everything to her,” and Janet then expressed her excitement to “meet up with” Frazier the next time she comes to Los Angeles.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sunday, February 21, 2021) – Dozens of people crowded under the Phillip Sousa Bridge in Southeast Washington, D.C. Saturday afternoon to remember a woman many affectionately called “Bridge Lady” because they never knew her identity.

Angela Hill lived under the bridge for nearly two decades and died at her makeshift home this week amid DC’s frigid temperatures.  While thousands saw Hill on a daily basis for those 20 years, most did not know her name.  “I would see her in the mornings on my way to work for years.  She would be propped up on two mattresses and I would stop on many occasions to give her a sandwich and something hot to drink,” said Lisa Weatherington.  “Sometimes she would take my offer and other times she shushed me away.” http://https://wetransfer.com/downloads/07c01a6003ccfcb450d2a8e044559bdb20210221232030/325418d1083cd724389b90e61798d26120210221232146/be1100

Weatherington was among the dozens of family members, motorists, and homeless advocates who packed under the bridge Saturday for a 4:30pm community vigil to remember Hill.  Police had to direct traffic in the area because of the throngs of people like Kimberly Cannon who learned of Hill’s death on Facebook.  “It was so sad to know that after all these years of surviving on the streets that she died.  I just wanted to come and pay my respects to her memory and family,” said Cannon. 

The 58-year-old Hill was found unconscious and not breathing under the bridge at Pennsylvania Avenue and 295 on Wednesday by a woman who often checked on her, according to published reports.

Many wondered how and why Hill lived under the bridge for so many years.  There are various stories. from it was where her son was killed, to Hill was waiting for her husband.  Family members say none of those tales was true.  “She was most comfortable here,” said Crystal her niece.  “This is where she wanted to be at and this is where she left.”  Asked to explain why Hill chose to live under the bridge, her niece simply said Hill had her personal reasons and the family is not inclined to reveal those reasons.  “You can coach a person to do anything in the world, but if it’s not what they want to do.  They are not going to do it.”

There’s been no official cause of death as yet.  Crystal wants the community to remember her aunt as the extremely gentle and loving person she was.  She also hopes her aunt’s life and passing will further the dialogue about mental health in the Black community.

(Washington, DC)  —  Members of Maryland’s congressional delegation are urging President Biden to approve the state’s appeal for an emergency declaration tied to the presidential inauguration.  The declaration would allow the state to be reimbursed for the costs of sending law enforcement to provide security for the event.  Maryland’s request was denied by President Trump in the final days of his administration.  Lawmakers say the January 6th siege on the U.S. Capitol demonstrated the need for additional security for the January 20th inauguration and Maryland took steps to protect the public against possible unrest.

To help celebrate, Mickey and Minnie will be wearing flashier threads and iconic structures such as the Cinderella Castle and the golf-ball-like Spaceship Earth are getting new lighting. Disney officials on Friday unveiled the first details of how Disney World will celebrate its milestone anniversary. Plans for the 18-month celebration which starts in October are being made amid one of the toughest stretches the sprawling theme park resort has faced in its nearly 50 years. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Cities slammed by winter storms that left millions without power for days have traded one crisis for another. Broken water pipes brought on by record-low temperatures have created a shortage of clean drinking water, shut down airports on Friday and left hospitals scrambling. Many people finally have electricity back after a deadly blast of winter this week overwhelmed the electrical grid and left millions shivering in the cold for days. But now 7 million people in Texas have been ordered to boil their water before consuming it. Nearly all 161,000 residents in Jackson, Mississippi, lost water service. The airport in Memphis canceled flights because of water pressure issues.

LONDON (AP) — Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, will not be returning to royal duties, and Harry will give up his honorary military titles. Harry and Meghan stepped away from full-time royal life in early 2020, and it was agreed at the time that the situation would be reviewed after a year. The palace said in a statement issued Friday that the couple have verified “they will not be returning as working members of the Royal Family.” It said Harry’s appointment as captain general of the Royal Marines and with other military groups would revert to Queen Elizabeth II. The couple now live in California and are expecting their second child.

NEW YORK (AP) — A member of the Fat Boys hip-hop trio who later formed his own band and became a well-known radio host, Prince Markie Dee has died at 52. His death was announced Thursday by the SiriusXM station Rock The Bells, which did not provide a cause of death. Born Mark Morales in Brooklyn, Prince Markie Dee was a founding member of the group that released several popular albums in the 1980s. In 1993, Morales formed Prince Markie Dee & The Soul Convention, which released the R&B hit “Swing My Way.” Morales also worked with several pop stars, including Destiny’s Child and Jennifer Lopez, and as a radio host in Miami.

Dionne Warwick Confirms A Biopic Starring Teyana Taylor Is In The Works

Dionne Warwick has confirmed that a biopic about her life is happening with Teyana Taylor.
The project will not be a typical two-hour movie, though.
The singer said, “It’s going to be a series, we’re planning to do an episodic type of a show.”
She also says that the project will most likely be on Netflix. “They’re not the only place that we’re looking at, but Netflix seems to be the leading episodic platform to do something similar to what I want to do. There’s a lot of very exciting stuff going on right now.”

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — A NASA rover has landed on Mars in an epic quest to bring back rocks that could answer whether life ever existed on the red planet. The space agency says the six-wheeled Perseverance hurtled through the thin, orange atmosphere and settled onto the surface Thursday in the mission’s riskiest maneuver yet. Mars has long been a deathtrap for incoming spacecraft. Perseverance will collect geological samples that will be brought back to Earth in about a decade to be analyzed for signs of ancient microscopic life.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Power was restored to more homes and businesses in Texas after a deadly blast of winter this week overwhelmed the electrical grid and left millions shivering in the cold. But the crisis was far from over, with many people still in need of safe drinking water. Fewer than a half-million homes remained without electricity, although utility officials said limited rolling blackouts could still occur. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says 7 million people have been ordered to boil their water before consuming it. The extreme weather was blamed for the deaths of over three dozen people, some while trying to keep warm.

Donald Glover Inks Overall Deal with Amazon Studios

More good news coming from Donald Glover as he inks a massive deal with Amazon Studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon will dedicate an entire channel to works from the actor, comedian, and musician.

Glover will move his hit television show, Atlanta from FX to Amazon and it’s being reported that Malia Obama will be a part of the writer’s room for Glover’s newest television show, “Hive.”

“Hive” will revolve around a Beyonce-like character. Malia has worked on other television productions including HBO’s Girls and CBS’ “Extant.”

Kanye West Reportedly ‘Not Doing Well’ Amid Split from Kim Kardashian

A source close to Kanye says the rapper isn’t doing well as he comes to terms with the fact that his marriage to Kim Kardashian is coming to an end.

“He is anxious and very sad. He knows that the marriage is over, and there’s nothing that can be done right now. He also knows what he is losing in Kim,” the source tells PEOPLE Magazine.

Last month a source told PEOPLE Magazine that Kim plans to end her marriage to Kanye and that she still wants him to be in his four children’s lives. Kanye hasn’t been good at Facetiming his children but he can anytime he wants and has been encouraged to do so.

The source reveals that Kim isn’t out to hurt Kanye but doesn’t want to be married to him and he’s sad about the breakup but understands Kim’s stance.

Don’t Put Food Outside If Your Freezer Loses Power, Says USDA

As chilly temperatures sweep the nation it could be tempting to put your food out in snowy conditions in order to keep them good while your power is out but the USDA is saying it’s not a good idea.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has a long list of reasons why you shouldn’t put your food outside:

The sun’s rays could thaw out the food even though it’s below freezing outside.

Temperatures could vary during the day and night causing the food not to be safe.

Food being stored outside could be exposed to unsanitary conditions and animals that could have bacteria or disease.

Lauren Hill’s hit album The Miseducation of Lauren Hill came out in 1998, but it just hit a massive milestone.
The album is officially diamond.
The RIAA announced the news today on Twitter. They wrote, “Welcome to the RIAA Diamond Club @MsLaurynHill!#TheMiseducationofLaurynHill is now a (10X) certified album! @ColumbiaRecords #BlackHistoryMonth #RIAATopCertified.”
Lauren is also the first female rapper to achieve this honor.
Other artists who have diamond-certified records include MC Hammer, Nelly, Eminem, and Tupac.

Demi Lovato Reveals She Has Brain Damage from 2018 Overdose

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Demi Lovato says her drug overdose in 2018 resulted in three strokes and a heart attack, leaving her with physical limitations that still affect her. Lovato reveals publicly for the first time details about the near-fatal incident in “Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil,” a four-part docuseries debuting March 23 on YouTube Originals. In the trailer, Lovato says doctors told her family she had five to 10 minutes to live. Lovato says she doesn’t drive anymore because her vision has blind spots. She also couldn’t read for two months after the overdose because of blurry vision.
