Chicago Video Of Fatal Police Shooting of boy, 13

It’s not clear if the boy had a handgun during the incident.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago’s police review board released body camera video on Thursday of a police officer’s fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy late last month. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, an independent board that investigates Chicago police shootings, released the footage Thursday of the March 29 fatal shooting of Adam Toledo after allowing the boy’s family to view it Tuesday. Shortly before its release, Mayor Lori Lightfoot called on the public to remain peaceful. Choking up at times, Lightfoot decried the city’s long history of police violence and misconduct, especially in black and brown communities, and said too many young people are left vulnerable to “systemic failures that we simply must fix.”

Ready Ron Denies DMX’s Claims He Exposed Rapper To Drugs

As the Hip-Hop community continues to mourn the loss of DMX one person who the late Ruff Ryder alum said started his lifelong addiction to drugs is now coming forward to deny the claims.

Ready Ron is denying that he laced a blunt DMX smoked when he was 14 with crack cocaine. DMX cried as he told the story of smoking the laced blunt to Talib Kweli in an interview that circulated the Internet last November.

Now Ready Ron says DMX wasn’t being honest and that he never laced the blunt with crack cocaine and that he’s been receiving hate mail since the story surfaced.

“How was I thirty years old in 1985 and he was 14,” said Ron. “And he and I are only three years apart. You gotta remember, just because somebody is world-famous doesn’t mean they’re always honest. And I’ve got nothing bad to say about him but you gotta stop lying on me.” Ready told “The Neighborhood Talk.”

Do you believe Ready Ron’s claims? Do you think Ready Ron should’ve cleared the air prior to DMX’s death?

What To Watch For If You’ve Had The J&J Vaccine

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been put on hold after reports of rare blood clotting issues. But what about those who already got their shot?
First off, the experts say the risk is very low – only six cases out of 7 million patients have been reported so far. If it’s been more than a month since your shot, you’re probably fine.
Symptoms to watch out for include a headache that won’t go away, severe abdominal or leg pain, or shortness of breath. If you experience any of these, contact your doctor immediately.
So far, all six cases have been reported in women between the ages of 18 and 48.
Which vaccine did you receive? Did you seek out a specific one, or just go with whatever was available?

Daunte Wright’s Killer Facing Charges

Minnesota cop Kim Potter will be charged with second-degree manslaughter

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota prosecutor says he will charge a white former suburban Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot 20-year-old Black motorist Daunte Wright during a traffic stop. Orput’s announcement comes a day after Potter resigned from the Brooklyn Center Police Department, where she had served for 26 years. It carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. The shooting ignited days of protests and unrest. It happened while the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, in the death of George Floyd is progressing.

We take a hard look at encounters with police for people of color.

Imagine this… you’re driving.  You see the red and blue lights in your rear view mirror.  You’re being pulled over by a police officer.  As you slow your car down… your heart rate speeds up.   You feel the light sheen of perspiration and you wonder… what have I done? You are uncertain, nervous, scared.  You ask yourself what’s next and will you make it home alive?  You don’t have to imagine that.  We’re not being overly dramatic.  There are too many high-profile examples in the news right now.  We take a hard look at this scenario and the broader issues for people of color and their encounters with police.

Johnson & Johnson COVID Vaccine Stopped

US recommends ‘pause’ for J&J shots in blow to vaccine drive

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. recommendation to  “pause” use of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine set off a chain reaction worldwide and dealt a setback to the global vaccine campaign. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration announced that they were investigating unusual clots that occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination. The acting FDA commissioner says she expects the pause to last a matter of days. The decision triggered swift action in Europe and elsewhere as regulators moved to halt the use of the J&J vaccine, at least for now. Hundreds of thousands of doses of the vaccine were due to arrive in European countries this week.

Shake Up After Daunte Wright Killing

Cop, police chief resign 2 days after Black motorist’s death

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) — A white Minnesota police officer who fatally shot a Black man during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb and the city’s chief of police have resigned. Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott says he hopes the moves will heal the community and lead to reconciliation after two nights of protests and unrest. However, Elliott also says he didn’t asked for nor accept Officer Kim Potter’s resignation. It wasn’t immediately clear what impact that would have. Daunte Wright was shot in Brooklyn Center on Sunday, as the Minneapolis area was already on edge amid the trial of a police officer in George Floyd’s death. The police chief has said he believed Potter mistakenly grabbed her gun when she was going for her Taser.

Are Some COVID-19 Vaccines More Effective than Others?

By LAURAN NEERGAARD AP Medical Writer
COVID-19 vaccines rolling out around the world weren’t compared to each other in studies, so it’s hard to tell how they might differ in effectiveness. But experts say they’re alike on what matters most: preventing hospitalizations and deaths. Although studies conducted before the vaccines were rolled out found varying levels of effectiveness, they don’t offer apples-to-apples comparisons. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccine studies, for example, counted a COVID-19 case whether it was mild, moderate or severe. The study for Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine didn’t count mild illnesses and was done when mutated versions of the virus were a bigger concern.

Prince Harry also has joined the corporate world as a leader with the employee coaching and mental health firm BetterUp Inc.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first Netflix series will center on the Invictus Games, which gives sick and injured military personnel and veterans the opportunity to compete in sports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions announced Tuesday its first series to hit the streaming service. The multi-episode docuseries, titled “Heart of Invictus,” is in partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, of which Prince Harry is a patron.
Prince Harry will appear on camera and serve as executive producer on the series.
In a statement, producers said the series “will follow a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe, all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses on their road to the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, now set to take place in 2022.”
It is the latest in a flurry of activity for the couple. The couple signed a deal to create content for Netflix and are creating podcasts for Spotify. Prince Harry also has joined the corporate world as a leader with the employee coaching and mental health firm BetterUp Inc. The couple have been detangling their lives from the British royal family and are living in California.
