NEW YORK (AP) — A New York prosecutor has obtained copies of Donald Trump’s tax records after the Supreme Court this week rejected the former president’s last-ditch effort to prevent them from being handed over. A spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney’s office said Thursday that prosecutors enforced a subpoena on Trump’s accounting firm within hours of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Monday and now has the documents in hand. District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. had been fighting for a year and a half for access to Trump’s tax records for a criminal grand jury investigation into his business dealings. The documents are protected by grand jury secrecy rules and are not expected to be made public.

Love ice cream, but can’t eat it? Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show found a way to help, thanks to Ben & Jerry’s.
After launching their The Tonight Dough ice cream, Ben & Jerry’s gave host Jimmy Fallon the chance to make an announcement: a VEGAN version of The Tonight Dough.
Even though it’s vegan and dairy-free, the ice cream still boasts having the caramel, chocolate, and double cookie dough flavor!
Along with the announcement of the ice cream, Fallon also announced that the cookie dough bites in the ice cream are being sold separately!

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that her sister, 64-year-old Mercia Bowser died from complications of the coronavirus.  The mayor released this statement this afternoon.

“My family and I are mourning the loss of my sister, Mercia Bowser, who passed away this morning due to complications related to COVID-19. Mercia was loved immensely and will be missed greatly, as she joins the legion of angels who have gone home too soon due to the pandemic. I ask that you continue to keep those who have been lost or impacted by the pandemic and those who are working so hard to protect us from it in your thoughts and prayers, and I respectfully request that my family and I are granted the time and space we need to mourn the loss of Mercia.

“Mercia was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked tirelessly for children, the elderly, and those with behavioral disorders until her retirement and beyond. She counted many friends and fond memories of her service to Catholic Charities and the DC Office on Aging. She is survived by her parents Joan and Joseph Bowser, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, and a host friends ranging from St. John’s Elementary School, to Academy of Our Lady High School, to Fisk University, and Israel Metropolitan CME Church.

“We are grateful to the doctors and nurses at Washington Hospital Center, who heroically treated her for COVID-19 related pneumonia until her death. We thank you for your kindness and will share how our family will honor Mercia, my only sister and oldest sibling, and her beautiful spirit in the coming days.”

Netflix has been working on new features lately and that includes some that cater to your tastes.
Netflix has introduced the “Downloads for You” feature on Android devices.
The feature will automatically download TV shows and movies recommended by your tastes to your device.
Don’t want it to download a bunch of stuff? You have the option to turn the feature on and off on the app.

Daniel Kaluuya Revealed He Wasn’t Invited to the “Get Out” Premiere

Well this is awkward.
Imagine being the star of a movie and not being invited to the premiere.
That happened to Daniel Kaluuya, star of the movie Get Out.
He was not invited to the movie premiere.
In a recent interview he said he was filming Black Panther when the movie premiered at the Sundance Film festival.
Even though he was working, he made sure to clear his schedule for Sundance but he never received an invite.
Instead, he spent the night in bed.
He went on to receive at least 26 award nominations for the role but not an invite to Sundance.

Google Update Lets You Schedule Texts

Google’s latest update may change the way you text.
Google is rolling out an update that would allow users to schedule text messages to be sent at a later time.
According to the company, the update is perfect for “loved ones in another time zone or on a different schedule”.
The new update and feature will run on phones that are running Android versions 7 or newer.

Lizzo has a lot of followers on TikTok, 12.8 million to be exact, and they can’t get enough of her vegan lifestyle.
The artist decided to share with her fans what a normal vegan food day looks like for her.
Lizzo started off with breakfast, which was congee and lentil-stuffed patties topped with JUST Egg and “all the fixins”.
Then for lunch Lizzo has a Southwest kale salad.
Lizzo’s dinner consists of rice cakes with mushroom and carrot sauce with vegan mozzarella cheese.

According to Wiz, Kevin Durant did. Wiz shared the story on his Instagram about the time Kevin Durant was picked to go inside an exclusive club and Wiz wasn’t so he left him hanging.
The rapper said “Kevin Durant, that’s the homie from back in the day. You remember when you left me outside the club?”, he said that when Durant was offered to go inside he said to Wiz “Bruh, I’m going to see you later, yo”.

DC Council Calls For Removal Of Capitol Fencing

It was installed after the January 6th riot at the Capitol as a way to protect the area during the inauguration of President Biden.

(Washington, DC)  —  The Washington D.C. Council is asking federal lawmakers to remove razor wire and fencing surrounding the U.S. Capitol building.  In a letter signed by District councilmembers, the council is calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to remove the fencing.  It was installed after the January 6th riot at the Capitol as a way to protect the area during the inauguration of President Biden.  Citing the importance of securing the building and those who work there, the letter hoped that the fencing could be removed to coincide with the decision to have the National Guard depart the Capitol complex on March 14th.

(Seattle, WA)  —  The world’s richest man may be looking to buy an NFL team.  Front Office Sports is reporting Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has a strong interest in buying the Washington Football Team.  The team’s minority stakeholders were reported to have pressured owner Dan Snyder into selling the franchise in August.  The team’s front office is currently being investigated for allegations of sexual harassment and mistreatment of female employees.

Metro’s Could Lose $166M In Capital One dispute

MCLEAN, Va. (AP) — A Virginia Senate budget amendment would block the D.C. region’s Metro system from receiving at least $166 million in funding unless it adds the name of Capital One bank to a Metrorail station. Capital One wants the McLean station near its corporate headquarters to be renamed McLean-Capital One Hall to recognize a 1,600-seat theater it’s building on the campus. Capital One offered to pay $320,000 in costs associated with the change, but the cash-strapped Metro agency says that isn’t enough. The Washington Post reports state Sen. Janet Howell of McLean inserted the budgetary ultimatum. She says the bank is being unfairly squeezed for money. It’s unclear if the amendment will be included in the final budget.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say golf star Tiger Woods was seriously injured when his SUV crashed into a median and rolled over several times on a steep road in suburban Los Angeles. Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s chief medical officer says Woods shattered tibia and fibula bones on his right leg in multiple locations, with additional injuries in the ankle and foot. A statement on his Twitter account says he was awake, responsive and recovering. Authorities had to extricate Woods through the front windshield. They say he’s fortunate to be alive. Authorities say there wasn’t evidence Woods was impaired. The crash happened on a sweeping, downhill stretch of road.

Construction Of Universal Hip Hop Museum Is Underway

The Universal Hip Hop Museum’s campaign to raise funds for the interior begins this week with a 3D virtual tour. The first phase was to raise money for the initial construction and now organizers are moving to phase 2, the interior.
Rappers Kurtis Blow, Afrika Bambaataa, and Grandmaster Melly Mel came up with the idea for the museum to ensure the history of Hip Hop music and culture lives on.
The museum will feature stories, film screenings and will be located in South Bronx.
Several artists assisting with the project include LL Cool J, Nas, and Ice-T.

Illinois Eliminates Cash Bail Option for the Accused

Illinois has become the first state to eliminate cash bail payments.
Bail, which is paid by people accused of crimes so they can be released from jail until their first court hearing, has been criticized as a “poor people’s tax” that has a negative impact on people with lower incomes and people of color. People who can’t afford to make the court-designated payment often sit in jail for weeks or months, and sometimes even cop a plea just to end the ordeal, experts say.
In addition to eliminating bail, the Illinois Pre-Trial Fairness Act requires all police officers to wear body cams by 2025, expands officer training and improves the state’s victim compensation program, according to State Representative Justin Slaughter.

No Charges Filed Against Officers Involved in Daniel Prude’s Death

A grand jury has declined to press charges against the police officers involved in last year’s death of Daniel Prude.
Making the announcement late Tuesday afternoon, New York Attorney General Letitia James said her officer presented “the strongest case possible” to the grand jury, which nonetheless opted against charging any of the officers involved in Prude’s death. “While I know that the Prude family, the Rochester community, and communities across the country will rightfully be devastated and disappointed, we have to respect this decision,” James said.


Prude, a 41-year-old Black man, died in March 2020 after Rochester police put a “spit hood” over his head while he was suffering from a mental health episode. Video shows an officer pressing Prude’s head into the ground until Prude becomes unresponsive. He died a week later from complications of asphyxia, the coroner ruled.
Is the grand jury’s decision going to spark more protests? How could jurors have determined the officer who pushed Prude’s head into the ground isn’t responsible?

Idris revealed to MistaJam on CapitalFM’s The All-New Capital Weekender he’s been working with Franky Wah and has a banger with Megan Thee Stallion and Davido.

Elba also dreams of the day where he can work with Taylor Swift, who he says he’s known “for a few years.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say golf star Tiger Woods was injured in a vehicle rollover in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says Woods had to be extricated from the vehicle with the so-called jaws of life tools. Woods was taken to the hospital with multiple legs injuries. The vehicle sustained major damage.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — The mother of Ahmaud Arbery has filed a civil lawsuit on the anniversary of his death that accuses three men charged with chasing and shooting him with violating his civil rights. Wanda Cooper-Jones filed suit seeking $1 million in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, when vigils were planned to mark a year passing since 25-year-old Arbery was slain. Arbery was pursued by white men and shot to death while running through their neighborhood on Feb. 23, 2020. As the three men await trial on murder charges, their lawyers still insist they committed no crimes.

Holiday, he’d come to realize, was an unsung civil rights hero who was targeted by the U.S. government for her drug use and her protest song, “Strange Fruit.” It’s this story that’s told in “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. The film, featuring Andra Day’s Golden Globe-nominated performance, debuts Friday on Hulu. It’s the Grammy nominated singer’s first acting role and one she has not been able to shake easily.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta native Gladys Knight will be among the headline performers at the NBA All-Star Game on March 7, performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the pregame festivities. A seven-time Grammy winner who has been vaccinated for COVID-19, Knight will be present at the game. Many other musical performers will appear remotely, including Grammy winner Alessia Cara, who will sing “O Canada” from Toronto.

As season three of “Snowfall” ended, rivals were circling his mini-drug empire and violence levels were up. The new season kicks off Wednesday and opens on New Year’s Eve in 1985 with crack ravaging the streets of South Central Los Angeles and the CIA using drug money to fuel its influence in Latin America. Idris hopes the new episodes can both enchant current fans and attract new ones, comparing it to “The Wire” or “The Sopranos.” “Snowfall” will air on FX on Wednesday and FX on Hulu on Thursday.

The middle child of eight children, they all sang together as a group, when he was just seven years old. Most of them are still in the music industry.

While his musical influences are mostly the classic soul artists he grew up listening to, Alex credits his gospel upbringing with the spirit filled style that he calls his own.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — State lawmakers have given final approval to legislation ending capital punishment in Virginia. Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam is expected to sign the legislation that passed Monday. It’s a dramatic turnaround for a state that has executed more people in its history than any other state. Virginia’s Democratic majority pushed the repeal effort, arguing that the death penalty has been applied disproportionately to people of color, the mentally ill and the indigent. Republicans raised concerns about justice for victims, and said some perpetrators deserve to be executed for especially heinous crimes. If signed into law, the legislation would make Virginia the 23rd state to stop executions.

(Washington, DC) — A glitch is being blamed for causing issues in unemployment benefits. Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser says almost 39-thousand people did not get any of the money they were supposed to get last week. Bowser told reporters today the city will not cover any additional costs, blaming a vendor for what happened. The money is expected to be deposited by Wednesday.

Boeing: 777s With Engine That Blew Apart Should Be Grounded

Boeing has recommended that airlines ground all 777s with the type of engine that blew apart after takeoff from Denver this weekend, and most carriers that fly those planes said they would temporarily pull them from service. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration ordered United Airlines to step up inspections of the aircraft after one of its flights made an emergency landing Saturday. Pieces of the casing of the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine rained down on suburban neighborhoods. United is among the carriers that has grounded the planes. The FAA administrator said in a statement Sunday that “the inspection interval should be stepped up for the hollow fan blades that are unique to this model of engine, used solely on Boeing 777 airplanes.”

After the drama surrounded Ted Cruz and his trip to Cancun, maybe fans of the show looked back at an episode that aired in 1993 titled Marge In Chains.
In it, Springfield’s Mayor Joe Quimby has a press conference telling the public about a pandemic hitting his city.
It is later revealed that he made the announcement remotely while vacationing in the Caribbean.
The mayor’s blue outfit in the episode also looks similar to suits Ted Cruz has worn in the past.

Moet Hennessy is acquiring a 50% stake in rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z’s Champagne brand in an effort to up its cool factor and expand sales. Terms of the deal weren’t released Monday. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, acquired Armand de Brignac in 2014. The brand, produced in France’s Champagne region, is known familiarly as Ace of Spades because of its distinctive label. Moet Hennessy President and CEO Philippe Schaus said Armand de Brignac breaks barriers and reflects contemporary ideas of luxury. Carter said the partnership will help Armand de Brignac grow and flourish.

Khloe Kardashian went to social media to promote her Good American Line, but no one is focusing on her clothing line.
She posted a photo wearing new Good American shoes and wrote, “New @GoodAmerican shoes are dropping 2.25.”
In the photo, you can only see Khloe’s lower half, and she has her left hand on the boots. And on her hand is what looks like a massive engagement ring.
Some comments included, “I don’t know where to direct my focus,” “Bling Bling,” and “How are you just gonna casually put this on my timeline.”

Motown Legend Stevie Wonder Plans To Expatriate to Ghana

Stevie Wonder has plans to move to Ghana, permanently. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Wonder says he has a song that he wants to release but he wants “America to do the right thing…I wanna see the nation smile again,” Wonder says he hopes to see it prior to him traveling to Ghana.

Oprah clarifies if Stevie will move permanently to which the Motown legend responded, “I am.”

As to why Stevie picked Ghana, he has visited the Western African country for years and says, “there is more of a sense of community.”

Wonder says America needs five years to right its wrongs, “I don’t want to see my children’s, children’s children have to say ‘oh please like me. Please respect me, please know that I am important, please value me’. What is that,” he asked.

Kim Kardashian Could Document Her $2.1 Billion Divorce From Kanye In Two New Shows

Now that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West over the weekend, it’s being revealed that she may document the days leading up to the divorce on her E! reality show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” as well as on two new series that she recently inked with Hulu and Star.

“Kim is definitely sad but she feels confident in her decision to divorce him because she knows it’s what’s best for herself and her family. She’s already felt like she’s been divorced for months now. It’s been a long time coming and she feels relieved to be able to finally move on,” a source told The Daily Mirror.

Kim’s main concern is her four children who already have been seeing Kim and Kanye separated for quite some time, according to the source, so the divorce won’t be a big surprise to their children.

It’s also being noted that Kim filed for divorce after being “tired of waiting” for the perfect time. Allegedly Kim wanted to file for divorce following Kanye’s disparaging comments about slavery, his presidential run, and his comments about aborting their oldest daughter.

After her election win, Kamala Harris walked to the stage to deliver her speech with Mary J. Blige’s “Work That” playing in the background.
During a recent interview, Mary talked about the moment.
She said, “I was buggin’, I was so surprised because people was calling me, I didn’t know what the hell was going on. I spoke to my sister the next day, she was like, ‘Yo! Kamala Harris just came out to ‘Work That.” I said, ‘Work That?!'”
She added, “Work That’ which wasn’t a single. But, it was a song that I wrote from my heart. I didn’t know she was a fan. She didn’t even pick ‘Just Fine,’ she picked ‘Work That.’ ‘Work That,’ which only the fans know. So, I would say, thank you, Kamala. She is one of my heroes, for real, today.”
