Approval Sought For Experimental Covid Pill

New COVID-19 drug research.

The pharmaceutical company Merck is requesting the FDA authorize emergency use of an experimental pill to treat coronavirus. Merck’s request comes just after phase three clinical trial data showed the anti-viral medication reduced the chances of hospitalization for newly diagnosed patients by about 50-percent.
Merck says it specifically asked the FDA to grant emergency use for adults with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who are at risk for severe disease or hospitalization.  Officials with the drugmaker say adding a pill to the fight against the coronavirus would be a game-changer.                                                  Meanwhile, an FDA advisory committee will consider emergency use authorization for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine boosters. The meetings are set for Thursday and Friday. Currently, both vaccines have emergency use authorization for adults 18 and up.

Snoop Dogg Confirms Collab Track With Eminem for His Next Album

Snoop has confirmed a song with Eminem, which is big since they had a misconnection in 2020 after Snoop excluded Eminem from his top 10 greatest rappers list.

Em addressed the diss saying he was “caught off guard” by Snoop’s comment and it was him saying he “could do without” Em’s music that struck a chord with the Detroit MC.

Now it seems the past is behind them as Snoop confirmed during a conversation with Too Short that a song featuring Eminem would be on his next album.

Snoop and Eminem will also perform together at next year’s Pepsi Halftime Show as the Superbowl along with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.

The Power of Social Media Over Us

How is the power of Social Media impacting our lives?

During the early days of the Social Media we had Myspace, Black Planet and AOLchat rooms. Now we have Facebook, Instagram, Tik-Tok, Snapchap and a whole lot of questionable and down right dangerous things that come with them.  Remember the milk crate challenge from this summer?  How about the bathroom challenge or the latest… the smack a teacher challenge? All of them going viral because of Social Media. After a Facebook whistleblower testified on Capitol Hill this week and a worldwide outage, the power of social media is giving all of us pause.

18 Former NBA Players Arrested For Alleged Insurance Fraud Scheme

Former NBA players were charged with a large indictment for insurance fraud.

Contributed by Lauren Taylor

NBC reported that an unsealed indictment in the Southern District of New York revealed 18 NBA veterans have been charged in federal court for committing fraud, allegedly creating a multi-million-dollar health insurance scheme abusing the league’s benefit plan.

Those named in the indictment include Terrence Williams, the alleged leader who played for the then-New Jersey Nets, his team member Tony Allen, Ronald Glen Davis, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Antoine Wright, Darius Miles, Sebastian Telfair, Shannon Brown, and more.

This widespread scheme was taking place in 2017 up to around 2020, the defendants face charges of conspiracy to commit wire and health care fraud as well as aggravated identity theft. Allegedly, they submitted fake reimbursement claims for medical and dental services that they never received to defraud the NBA Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan.

The indictment alleges that the defendants filed fake claims totaling $3.9 million, from which they received $2.5 million.

The alleged ringleader, Williams, helped get other players into the scheme by supporting their claims with fake invoices.  He allegedly gained a total of $230,000 in payments from the other players for the false documents.

The league made this statement, “The benefit plans provided by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association to our players are critically important to support their health and well-being throughout their playing careers and over the course of their lives, which makes these allegations particularly disheartening. We will cooperate fully with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in this matter.”

In a recent blog post by The Jasmine Brand, Tamar Braxton announced that the show, ‘Braxton Family Values’, will return but not to WeTV.

Tamar said, “How many of y’all miss ‘Braxton Family Values’? What if I told you ‘Braxton Family Values’ is coming back ? Not on a foolish network, I can tell you that.”

Her disdain for WeTV has been ongoing, as she held them responsible for her mental health and emotional distress leading to her suicide attempt in July 2020. She explained on Twitter that WeTV wouldn’t allow her to part with the show and what was being aired was hurting her relationship with her son.

In an interview with Taraji P. Henson on Peace of Mind with Taraji, Braxton disclosed that her son, Logan, 7, would be better off without her and that’s why she attempted to take her own life.  She said, “Logan was the reason why I made that decision…I felt like I was embarrassing him, being a fool on TV.”

Her family starred on BFV for 8 years, Tamar had multiple spinoffs including the one with her now ex-husband, Tamar and Vince, and her own series, Tamar Get Ya Life, all airing on WeTV.

Teen Domestic Violence

Could your teenagers be victims or perpetrators of domestic violence?

You don’t have to look far to see examples of domestic violence.  The headlines and newscasts are full of them.  From the Gabby Petito story and the on-going search for her fiancee Brian Laundrie… to the recent murder of Moyonna Tillman in Clinton, in Prince George’s County by her boyfriend James Kirkland.  He shot himself less than a week later.  October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we’re talking about this issue and in place where you may not think it could happen, with your dating-age children.
