Cynthia Bailey has revealed why she missed NeNe Leakes’ husband Gregg’s funeral.
Earlier in the week, NeNe did a radio interview and spilled the tea that Cynthia “didn’t even come to the repast.” She did later reveal that Cynthia did “come a week later after everything was done.”
In a sit down with The New York Post, Bailey revealed that she and her husband Mike Hill were out of town at the time of the funeral. Bailey did reveal that she “felt bad” about missing the service.
Gregg Leakes died on September 1 after a battle with colon cancer.
Do you think that Cynthia should’ve come back to be with her friend? Would you have still been upset with Cynthia for missing the funeral?

Kangol Kid Is Fighting for His Life

Hip-Hop Legend Kangol Kid is currently fighting for his life.
Back in February, the pioneer was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and was admitted to the hospital this week to undergo surgery.
Everyone, please support my brother Kangol Kid from UTFO, said hip-hop promoter Van Sylk who is also battling Stage 4 cancer.
Kangol went into surgery on Thursday. There hasn’t been an update published on his condition.

Michael Jackson’s oldest son Prince Jackson was a guest on Good Morning Britain when he was asked what his father would think of Britney Spears and her wanting her conservatorship to come to an end.

Prince says he never heard his father mention Britney and her conservatorship but he says, “knowing my father and the compassion that he had for individuals who wanted to remain in control of their own life as it was his goal to be in control of his own life, I would think that he would be very supportive of her cause.”

Prince continues to promote his father’s legacy with philanthropy. He will be hosting “Thriller Nights” on the family’s estate this Halloween.

Serena Williams Rookie Card Sells for $44,280—an Auction Record for a Female Athlete

An autographed Serena Williams rookie card has sold for a record-setting $44,280 at an auction in New Jersey last weekend, according to ESPN.
The previous record for a female athlete was a Mai Hamm rookie card which sold for $34,440.
The executive chairman of Goldin Auctions said there are a lot of people putting together GOAT collections: “They want Pete, Ali, Jordan, Tiger, Brady, and they include Serena. I think that’s the single biggest impact that is lifting her cards above all other women athletes.”
A 2003-04 LeBron James card sold at the same auction for $2.46 million.
Why is there still such a disparity in media coverage and things like sports cards for women athletes compared to men?

Atlanta rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny shared their new development project via Instagram. The ‘Whatever You Like’ rapper is adding this project to others in his repertoire, in 2017 he founded Buy Back the Block, a real estate venture that will reinvent his old neighborhood one building at a time. T.I. posted a video showing the land for his affordable housing development and the progress being made. In which, he states they are about 40% done and they should be done by sometime next year. This development of affordable housing is in Bankhead Atlanta, the neighborhood where T.I. grew up.

In the video, when referring to his new development T.I. says, “This right here used to be the old K-Mart, Giant Foord, and now we have affordable housing. 143 units going up. Big huge community ya dig?” It was also said that there is to be a community center, greenhouse, and garden in this new affordable housing project. The rapper mentions his excitement for the project, “This is our first project as developers [and] we’re proud of it.”

Tiny also posted the property on her story with the caption, “God just keeps blessing us to bless others. @Troubleman31 U da Man!! I love to say our big project is coming along.”

The couple faced criminal allegations earlier this year as 17 of 30 women came forward to press charges against the two. Per their lawyer, the victims have accused them of varying degrees of sexual abuse, drugging, and harassment. According to prosecutors, they did not face charges due to the expired statute of limitations on the incident in question which occurred in 2005.

Chris Brown has two children, seven-year-old Royalty, and one-year-old Aeko, and according to a friend of the singer he goes above and beyond to connect with his children, especially Aeko who lives in Germany with his mother.  “Chris and Ammika don’t always see eye to eye, but Chris makes every intention to be in contact with his son and send him funny video messages and singing messages,” a source told HollywoodLife.com.  Brown hates to be away from his son and the source says the singer is gearing up for Aeko’s second birthday, “When Chris makes plans to do something, he always goes big. And he also loves surprises so if he has anything planned in the immediate future (as far as traveling to see him or sending pricey gifts) he’s definitely keeping it under wraps.” Do you live apart from your children? Unless you’ve been under a rock you know Adele is back and has dropped her single, “Easy On Me,” and now the singer is getting ready for a star-studded television special and interview with Oprah.

The singer was recently doing an interview with a British radio show when she was asked if she ever let other celebrities give her advice on her music.

Adele revealed that she had played music for Drake last year but she doesn’t send it to various people. “That’s it….just Drake,” she said.

Drake gave her the thumbs up, posting on social media, “One of my best friends in the world just dropped a single… WOIIIIIII.”

Adele’s television special will air on November 14th on CBS and comes days before the release of her album “30” on November 19th. Lizzo, Kris Jenner, Gordon Ramsey, and Ellen DeGeneres were among the 300 people who attended the live taping.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama will be a guest star on the final season of ABC’s Black-ish.
I’ve been a fan of Black-ish’s wit and all-around brilliance, Michelle Obama said on Instagram. It was such a thrill to join in for an episode. I can’t wait for you all to see it.
Creator Kenya Barris announced that the show would be coming to an end with season eight back in May.
The final season is set to premiere next year. The exact date hasn’t been revealed yet.

Fair Fight Action, Stacey Abrams‘ voting rights organization, has donated more than $1 million to help fight medical debts in five states.

This organization created by Abrams, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate, and activist, has donated $1.34 million to the nonprofit organization RIP Medical Debt, according to a press release. This donation will go towards a debt originally totaling $212 million owed by 108,000 people across five states: Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona, Mississippi, and Alabama. This is the third-largest gift in RIP Medical Debt’s history.

RIP Medical Debt Says, “The more than 108,000 individuals will receive a letter in the coming days, contained in a yellow envelop, informing them that their debt has been relieved.” Abrams discusses her first-hand experience with medical costs in one statement, she also says, “For people of color, the working poor and middle-class families facing crushing costs, we hope to relieve the strain on desperate Americans and on hospitals struggling to remain open.”

Fair fight Action decided to focus its effort on the South this time around due to the fact medical debt is 30% higher in the South than in the North. The combined unpaid medical debt in America is now $141 billion – which doubles the estimates from earlier in this year.

The organization would like to promote full Medicaid expansion across the country to decrease the 72% of black households with debt and the 78% of households with a householder of Hispanic origin that carry debt.

In a White House speech, Biden insisted the legislation is “fully paid for” and called it a historic economic deal. The framework expands the social safety net while making a significant investment in the fight against climate change. Biden has little margin for error with a razor thin majority in the House and a 50-50 Senate, though Vice President Harris can act as a tiebreaker in the Senate.

The ‘Sex and the City’ revival entitled ‘And Just Like That’ is set to air December 2021, added its newest addition to the cast, Nicole Ari Parker. She announced that the show will address race this time around.

According to The Jasmine Brand, Parker said “I’m excited to be a part of something that’s different for them. We can talk about the elephant in the room that there were no fully fleshed-out characters of color, but now here’s the four of us.” She went on to say, “We’re real people, and they’ve been great to work with, and some of our [storylines] deal with race and deal with real experiences. It’s New York City!”

Joining Nicole Ari Parker in the reboot will be Sara Ramirez, Sarita Choudry, and Karen Pittman, who are all people of color. Parker will play Carrie Bradshaw’s best friend, a character named Lisa Todd Wexley. It is reported that Kim Cattral, who starred as Samantha Jones in the original, will not be returning to appear in the reboot. This was announced back in August around the same time news broke of Parker joining the cast.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon will reprise their original characters.

For original fans worrying about the new storylines, Parker reassured them saying, “We’re grown a** women, so we know how to keep it sexy. It’s piping hot.”

Singer Chante Moore revealed to her fans earlier this week that she is engaged to former VP of BET Stephen Hill.

The happy couple shared photos of them celebrating Hill’s 60th birthday on their respective Instagram pages. Moore shared an image of the two cozied up on a yacht staring off into the sunset with a gushy caption to her boo.

This would be Moore’s third marriage. She was previously married to actor Kadeem Hardison, with whom she has a daughter, and singer Kenny Latimore, with whom she shares a son.

She even made light of the situation by referencing her song ‘Weak,’ “I literally got weak in my knees” captioned the singer.

(Washington, DC) — D.C. Council is set to consider a vaccine mandate for students. A virtual public hearing on the mandate is scheduled for today. The Council legislation would require all eligible students in D.C. Public Schools, public charter schools, independent, private, and parochial schools to get the vaccine by December 15th. The vaccine mandate would be waived if the student is exempt for religious or medical reasons. Some council members are encouraging the COVID vaccine to be part of the list of immunizations students are required to receive every school year.

First Steps Made In Congress To Honor Pop Superstar Prince

NEW YORK (AP) — Minnesota’s Congressional delegation on Monday is introducing a resolution to posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to pop superstar Prince, citing his “indelible mark on Minnesota and American culture,” The Associated Press has learned. The medal is one of the nation’s highest civilian honors and past recipients include George Washington, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, the Tuskegee Airmen and the Dalai Lama. Prince, whose hits include “Little Red Corvette,” “Let’s Go Crazy” and “When Doves Cry,” died in 2016. The resolution for Prince is led by U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat who represents Minneapolis, and Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who represents the state.

Diversity Study: TV Looks More Like US and Viewers Approve

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Television shows that reflect the nation’s increasing racial and ethnic diversity are finding favor with industry gatekeepers and viewers. That’s according to a newly released University of California, Los Angeles, study of the 2019-20 TV season. The UCLA study found audience enthusiasm for shows such as creator-star Issa Rae’s “Insecure” proves that inclusion pays business as well as social dividends. One of the study’s authors says the biggest takeaway is “the mounting evidence” of the importance of diversity to today’s TV viewers. For viewers of all races and ethnicities, median ratings were highest for scripted broadcast shows in which people of color represented about a third of the credited writers.

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy was interviewed by The Associated Press on efforts to make the Grammys more inclusive. He also talked about other happenings in the music industry and cancel culture. Mason addresses the rumors about R. Kelly’s Grammys being rescinded now that the singer has a criminal conviction, and country singer Morgan Wallen’s nominations status following his use of racial slurs. Mason touched on the academy becoming a place to educate musicians who might be misinformed on certain topics such as diversity, inclusion, race relations and LGBTQ issues. He also opened up about why he lowercased “jr.” in his name.

Chappelle Special Spurs Netflix Walkout and Counter Protests

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Netflix employees walked out Wednesday in protest of Dave Chappelle‘s special and its anti-transgender comments. They were joined by allies who chanted “Trans lives matter,” getting pushback from opponents who also showed up. A pre-noon rally at a Netflix office-studio complex drew about 100 people, most on the side of an estimated 30 workers at the streaming giant that joined in afterward. Some were willing to identify themselves as Netflix employees, but all declined to provide their names. Joey Soloway, creator of the groundbreaking Emmy-winning comedy “Transparent,” was among the speakers at the rally.  Soloway called for trans representation on Netflix’s board.

A special guest, TV personality, Angela Simmons appears on the show co-hosted by Tracie Jenkins. In this clip, Henson shares that it was in the best interest of her son to leave one of her relationships due to the abuse. The three discuss their encounters with domestic violence and Simmons recounts her traumatic past with her ex-fiance, Sutton Tennyson, who passed away last year.

Henson describes how as women, “we fall in love and say we will fix it later” she goes on to say that she knew it was time to leave her relationship “once blood was drawn.” She knew that type of environment wasn’t a conducive one to raise a child in.

Vin Diesel, 54, had the honor of walking his goddaughter Meadow Walker, 22, down the aisle. Earlier this month in the Dominican Republic, Meadow married Louis Thorton-Allan.

Meadow Walker is the daughter of the late actor Paul Walker.

A beautiful Instagram photo was shared by Meadow commemorating the moment, Diesel is wearing an all-blue suit and Meadow is smiling from ear to ear.

Paul Walker died in 2013 from a tragic car accident. The Porsche he was riding in burst into flames after crashing into a light post killing him and the driver, Roger Rodas. Prior to his death, Paul and Diesel were side by side in five of the Fast & Furious films. Diesel takes the task of being a godfather very seriously.

He explains his bond with Meadow to Extra in June saying, “She’s the first person on Father’s Day to wish me Happy Father’s Day.”

Meadow reveals that she counts on Diesel and his family, being that she was only 15 when her father passed. Diesel remained there for her and it shows through his help in celebating her wedding.

According to Vogue, Meadow loved every bit of the day, “We couldn’t have imagined it to be any more perfect and personal–and honestly it was easy and simple. Louis and I knew exactly what we wanted from the start.”

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are both set to release new music before the end of the year. According to an Instagram post made by DJ Battlecat, new music is set to be released by Snoop Dogg on Nov. 12th and in December by Dr. Dre.

A group called Mount Westmore recently released its debut single entitled ‘Big Subwoofer,’ the group includes Snoop Dogg, E-40, Ice Cube, and Too $hort.

The two will be performing alongside Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar at the 2022 Super Bowl in Inglewood, California on February 13th.

It’s expected to have the pen used by President Biden to sign a bill making June 19th a national holiday. The state-of-the-art museum will replace the Fort Worth Juneteenth Museum run by Opal Lee who was heavily involved in making Juneteenth a federal holiday. It could open in 2023. Juneteenth marks the day when Union soldiers told Blacks in Southeast Texas the Civil War was over and they were no longer slaves.

(Undated) — Comedian Dave Chappelle is defending his new special on Netflix amid backlash. He posted a video on Instagram saying “I said what I said.” The 48-year-old admits he doesn’t understand what all the controversy is about, adding everyone he knows from the LGBTQ community has been loving and supportive. Some describe his jokes as transphobic and that sparked a Netflix walkout last week. Chappelle says he’s open to speaking with transgender employees but adds he won’t bend to anyone’s demands.

Vanessa Bryant Reveals She Originally Thought Kobe and Gianna Bryant Survived Crash

The tragic incident resulting in the death of Kobe and Gianna Bryant occurred nearly two years ago and new information has come to the surface. Vanessa Bryant appeared at a virtual deposition on October 22nd, regarding her lawsuit against the L.A. County Sherriff’s Department for allegedly distributing post-mordem photos of Kobe and Gianna after the crash. During the deposition Vanessa revealed her initial thoughts during that tragic day when those nine people lost their lives.

The widow learned of the crash from her assistant on January 26th, 2020 around 11:30 a.m. that morning. The news was falsely reported that five people had survived the crash, causing Vanessa to believe that her beloved husband and daughter were still alive. Once she was aware of the truth, she demanded the crash site be secured in order to prevent anyone from taking pictures of her loved ones post-mordem.

Although she was advised the site would be secured, four officers allegedly took pictures of her deceased husband and daughter on their cellphones to share with others. Vanessa immediately filed a lawsuit to bring those involved to justice. She also posted the involved officers’ names to Instagram.

According to the Jasmine Brand, Vanessa says, “The impact of the crash was so damaging, I just don’t understand how someone can have no regard for life and compassion and, instead, choose to take that opportunity to photograph lifeless and helpless individuals for their own sick amusement. She may also be subject to a psychiatric exam to determine that the photos being shared caused her emotional distress.

Zaire Wade is truly following in his father, Dwyane Wade‘s, footsteps.

The young hoop star is quickly making his dreams a reality. He was recently drafted by the Salt Lake City Stars, Utah Jazz’s G League team. He was the 10th pick in round 1 and was reportedly ranked as the 296th prospect in the 2021 recruiting class.

Zaire attended school with Bronny James at Sierra Canyon. He later went to Brewster Academy. After receiving multiple offers from colleges he decided that he wanted to go straight to basketball instead.

Dwyane purchased a minority ownership stake of the Utah Jazz back in April.

He shared his happiness that his son was drafted to the team saying, “Wade Legacy Continues…Proud Dad moment!”

Dwayne was the 5th overall draft pick in the 2003 NBA draft, he played for the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Chicago Bulls. He officially retired as a member of the Heat in 2019.

Porsha Williams Shares Trailer For Her New Show

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams has her own spinoff show: Porsha Family Matters. The new trailer just dropped and in it is all the tea.

The trailer shares that her family doesn’t seem to be very ecstatic about her sudden engagement with Simon Guobadia, 57. The limited series will be premiering on November 28th, giving you a closer look into the life of Porsha Williams, 40. Her family tends to interfere with her personal life and each “chimes in with their unfiltered opinions and tensions rise,” reads a description from Bravo.

With this first look of the show, we see the reaction the Williams family takes to the news that Porsha will be Simon’s “fourth wife.” If you couldn’t tell by one family member replying “Oh, my Lord,” it did not go over very well.

The series premiere for Porsha’s Family Matters is November 28th on Bravo.

Amanda Seales Faces Backlash For Playing An A.K.A. On ‘Insecure’

The members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority are upset with Amanda Seales for wearing A.K.A. merchandise on the final season premiere of Insecure. 

Alpha Kappa Alpha is the first historically African-American sorority. It was founded on the grounds of Howard University in 1908. The colors of the sorority are green and light pink. Vice President Kamala Harris, Eboni K. Williams, and Gizelle Bryant are notable members of the organization.

Tiffany DuBois, Amanda Seales’ character, wore what appeared to be A.K.A. regalia on the season premiere that aired Sunday, Oct. 24th. Amanda Seales is now facing criticism for repping the sorority on-screen without actually being a member in real life.

Seales responded to the backlash via her Instagram story, “I don’t know why people keep asking me if I’m a soror. I am not a soror. Tiffany is a soror. Tiffany is a character on a TV show. I didn’t write the character– I play the character! I’m not a soror–I’m an actress! And I’m playing a character on a TV show. I think reality TV got folks f-ked up because it’s like “It’s all the same!” But I’m just playing a character. That’s it!”

Amanda goes on to say in another upload that some websites say she is a member of the sorority but is in fact not one.

Snoop Dogg’s Mother Passes Away At 70

Rapper and Songwriter Snoop Dogg is mourning the loss of his late mother, Beverly Tate. Through heartfelt Instagram posts over this past weekend, Snoop shared the news of his mother’s passing.

We do not yet know the official cause of death but Tate was hospitalized earlier this year. Snoop Dogg posted a picture of his mother in the hospital on July 25th. He asked for prayers captioning the post, “She opened her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting… God is good. ”

One of the posts that Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. A.K.A. Snoop Dogg shared was one of his mother smiling with the caption, “Thank u god for giving me an angel 🕊 for a mother 💖🙏🏽🌹💝 TWMA.” The love between mother and son is so strong and Snoop was sure to let us know the love he shared, in 1999 he released a song called “I Love My Momma.” In which he shares loving lessons and memories with his mom.

The woman’s name is Raven Barmer-Simmons and has already contacted DMX’s other children.
She said she will get a paternity test.
DMX’s estate is still being figured out as he died without a will.

Adele is giving her two cents on who she thinks should be the next 007.
She said, “I mean it’s a tough one there have been lots of different choices and stuff. But I would like Jonathan Major to be the next Bond. But I don’t know if that’s allowed because he’s American. But I think Idris Elba.”
That may not happen, though. Years ago, Idris addressed rumors about playing the character and said, “Don’t believe the HYPE.”

Drake Gifted Unique Rolls Royce For His Birthday In Full Circle Moment

Drake celebrated his 35th birthday over the weekend with a Halloween party in Los Angeles. The star-studded affair had a Narcos theme and “Champagne Papi” didn’t disappoint with his cowboy costume complete with a Stetson cowboy hat, leather fringe jacket and cowboy boots complete with spurs.

The party was named “Chico Amante” which translates to “Lover Boy” in a nod to his recent album, “Certified Lover Boy.”

In a full-circle moment Drake received a Rolls-Royce Phantom just like the one he used to rent for $5,000 a month during his early days in the music business. Drake posted a picture of himself to Instagram in the back of the car.

“Even though I don’t recommend putting yourself in financial trouble for material things I realize now that this was just my way of extreme manifesting,” he explained in the caption. “I needed to see it and feel it and have it to believe that I could see and feel and have anything I wanted. Today in 2021 my brother @futuretheprince tracked down the exact car I use to stress over and gifted it to me…it’s mine now. Manifestation complete.”

The movie is about Serena and Venus Williams’ tennis career and how their father, Richard Williams helped to put them in position to dominate the tennis world.

Serena called the movie, “a cool experience” and no doubt will be watching it when it begins streaming on HBOMax and hits theatres on November 19th.

DC Offers Free Bike Rides for City Residents

Help for DC residents who are having a tough time getting around town because of the Metrorail delays. Bikeshare is offering free rides for the next 30 days.

Washington, DC (Monday, October 25, 2021) – DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and Lyft are moving to ease the pain for District residents who rely on Metrorail to get around.  Starting today Bikeshare is offering one free 30-day membership to all city residents.  

“The service disruptions at Metro are deeply troubling for DC and the region. DC is open and we need a fully functioning transit system to get workers, students, and visitors across the city,” said Mayor Bowser. “We have been intentional, over the past several years, about making Capital Bikeshare more accessible and convenient for DC residents, and now we are proud to be able to offer this free one-month membership to every Washingtonian who might need it.” 

To participate, riders should go to the “Ride Plans” section of the Capital Bikeshare or Lyft Mobile apps, or the “Pricing” section of the Capital Bikeshare website, capitalbikeshare.com, and select a 30-day membership for $0.

Once registered for the free membership, residents can take unlimited free 45 minute rides on the red classic Capital Bikeshare bikes – there will be no unlocking or travel fee. Rides longer than 45 minutes will cost $0.05/minute for a pedal bike. Ebike rides will cost $0.10 per minute from the first minute, a 33% discount from the normal rate. Taxes and out of hub fees will be charged separately. Participants will need a valid credit card and phone number to participate. 

The District’s partnership with Lyft is managed through the Department of Transportation (DDOT). “Bikeshare and trains play a complementary role as essential parts of DC’s regional transit network, and the Capital Bikeshare system stands ready to do everything it can to help serve as a backstop to rail during this reduction in Metro service,” said Caroline Samponaro, VP of Transit, Bike and Scooter Policy at Lyft. “We applaud Mayor Bowser for her leadership in making Capital Bikeshare free for 30 days to all DC residents and encourage everyone who can to take advantage of this fast, reliable and sustainable transportation option.” 

In her historic Fiscal Year 2022 Fair Shot Budget, the Mayor made significant investments in the Capital Bikeshare program and cycling infrastructure, including:  

  • 80 new Capital Bikeshare stations so every resident has a station within 1/4 mile of home; 
  • 2,500 new e-bikes for the Bikeshare fleet and a 20-bike pilot of new adaptive Bikeshare bikes for people with disabilities; 
  • 30 miles of Protected Bike Lanes over the next 3 years (doubling current planned investments); and 
  • 17.4 miles of new pedestrian and bicycle trails for safer walking and biking.

Tommy DeBarge of Switch Has Died

Tommy DeBarge of the R&B band Switch has died.
A family member of the famous musical family had revealed that Tommy battled with kidney and liver failure for a number of years and was hospitalized a few weeks ago.
Tommy and his brother Bobby were founding members of Switch and had classic hits with the group like “There’ll Never Be,” “I Call Your Name,” and Love Over & Over Again.”
Tommy died while in the hospital on Thursday at the age of 64.

Royal Caribbean Offers a 9-Month “World Cruise”

If you want to get away Royal Caribbean cruise line wants to take you away for a whopping nine months.
Dubbed as the Ultimate World Cruise, Royal Caribbean International will give travelers the opportunity to cruise around the whole world in one trip.
If it sounds like something you’d want to do, the cruise sets sail on December 10, 2023, and would end on September 10, 2024. The trip will take you to 150 destinations in 65 countries on all seven continents.
Few things to note. If you can’t make the whole nine months you can book for a shorter time. The total price of the trip is $60,999 per person, but if you pay by January 6, 2023, you can save 10 percent.
