SBA Grants and HBCU Initiatives in the Biden Plan

Build Back Better agenda has educational component for federal government contractors.

President Biden was in Michigan today, making a big pitch for his top agenda items, including a one-point-two-trillion-dollar infrastructure bill and a much larger social spending measure.  All of this part of his Build Back Better agenda.  It’s a hefty plan with a lot of moving parts.  Much of that because of the party politics and partisan politics.  We’re going to put that aside for a moment and look at what some parts of this plan might mean for you… small business grants and HBCU initiatives.

Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp Are Down

Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram are suffering from an outage that’s lasting quite a while.

Contributed by Lauren Taylor

On Monday Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp all crashed causing social media users to vent on Twitter. ‘FB and IG’ are a trending topic on Twitter with over 62,000 tweets.

Facebook and Instagram users created memes about the ordeal, saying they are “patiently waiting for FB & IG” to work again. If you are a regular user of these platforms, then you know that is a struggle, and crashes like this happen often.

She is saying in her book that he groped her while they were filming.
She said, “Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind. I instinctively moved away, looking back at Robin Thicke.”

Do you think the incident happened? What would you do in that situation?

R. Kelly’s ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ Horrifies Mourners in ‘SNL’ Funeral Sketch

SNL’s 47th season opened with a funeral sketch featuring R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.” SNL’s Kenan Thompson portrays “legendary Atlantic City headliner” LeVar B. Burton who is there to perform a deceased woman’s favorite song, “I Believe I Can Fly.”

As the funeral-goers protest the song, the confused preacher played by SNL host Owen Wilson says the woman specifically said she wanted “Fly” performed at her funeral.

“But R. Kelly is a horrible man who did awful things,” said one mourner. Thompson continues to sing the song as pictures are being shown of the deceased woman posing with other disgraced celebrities, C.K. Lewis, Bill Cosby, and Kevin Spacey.

The skit ends with Owen explaining how the woman died, “Right before she died, she looked me straight in the eyes and said, ‘I believe I can fly — and then she jumped.” Thompson then begins singing the woman’s second favorite song, R. Kelly’s “Ignition” remix.

Now that R. Kelly has been convicted of sex trafficking and more, are you opposed to listening to his music?

TLC Postpones Tour Due To T-Boz Health Issues

Extreme cigarette and recreational smoke kept TLC’s T-Boz from performing for her “CrazySexyCool” concerts in Texas over the weekend.

The singer, who also suffers from sickle cell anemia, suffered an allergic reaction and the tour had to postpone two shows.

TLC’s Houston show, scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd, was moved to Monday, October 4th, and the Irving, Texas concert scheduled for Sunday, October 3rd was rescheduled for October 5th.

The group has always enforced a strict no smoking policy at their shows in an effort to prevent any health-related issues for the group and/or crew,” a statement from the show organizers said. TLC has been touring with Bone Thugs & Harmony since September.

The Floyd statue also was vandalized shortly after it was unveiled in Brooklyn in June. Floyd’s killing at the hands of police in Minneapolis last year galvanized racial justice actions across the country.

Video circulated over the weekend showing Lizzo backstage at the Millennium Tour and the singer had a moment with her “favorite person.”

Lizzo is seen snapping it up with Chris Brown who she called her “favorite person in the whole effing world,” however once the video surfaced fans criticized the singer for taking a picture with Brown who has a complicated past.

“Not good sis Lizzo being a Chris Brown fan… if she wasn’t “Lizzo” he wouldn’t let her in his section, she doesn’t meet the domestic abuser’s criteria,” @AJsayshey posted.

Another fan pulled receipts showing Rihanna posting her nail color while playing Chris Brown in the background which proved the singers are on civil terms.

Do you think Chris Brown will ever shed his negative past with Rihanna?

Why Climate Change Is Making It Harder To Chase Fall Foliage

By PATRICK WHITTLE Associated Press
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Recent leaf-peeping seasons have been disrupted by weather conditions in New England, New York and elsewhere. Arborists and ecologists say the trend is likely to continue as the planet warms. The leaves have been subjected to droughts that cause leaves to turn brown and wither before they can reach peak color. There have also been heat waves prompting leaves to fall before autumn even arrives, and extreme weather events that strip trees of their leaves altogether. The warming is also pushing back the start of the foliage season in some parts of the country.

Eminem Opens Up His Own Restaurant, ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’

Eminem opens his own restaurant in his hometown, serving spaghetti.

Eminem is not only a rapper, actor, and producer but he opened up his own restaurant Wednesday so he can now add restauranteur to his resume. This Italian eatery is named, ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ in downtown Detroit. Youtube Banning All Anti-Vaccine Content

Youtube bans all content that’s contributing to the anti-vaccine narrative.

Originally, YouTube would only take down videos that stated the coronavirus vaccine isn’t trustworthy and dangerous. According to the Washington Post, now any and all videos discrediting vaccines no matter the disease it’s meant to prevent will get removed from the site.

The Google-owned company has been trying to sustain against the backlash of lawmakers and regulators, they’ve always stood on the values of their platform being open for free speech. Fearing that policing their content or content creators would take away from that. YouTube conceded in changing their policies once the company took the blame for this pool of misinformation.

Hany Farid’s thoughts on YouTube’s policies, “You create this breeding ground and when you deplatform it doesn’t go away, they just migrate”, Farid is a computer science professor and misinformation researcher at the University of California at Berkeley. He believes that these policies should’ve been enacted prior to the launch of the vaccine. On the other hand, Matt Halprin, YouTube’s vice president of global trust and safety, says things like that take time.

The controversy between censoring content too much and not censoring enough is an ongoing battle, especially for YouTube.

Big Drop in US Teen Vaping

COVID school closures a factor

WASHINGTON (AP) — Government researchers reported a big drop in teen vaping this year as many U.S. students stayed home from school during the pandemic. Survey results released Thursday give the first indication of how COVID-19 disruptions may have slowed the underage use of electronic cigarettes. Government officials urged caution in comparing the latest survey numbers to prior years, because of differences in how the results were gathered. But outside researchers said the drop is likely real and makes sense given that young people often vape socially. In the survey 11% percent of high school students said they regularly vape, down from nearly 20% last year.
