Kelly sexually abused late R&B singer Aaliyah, who he later illegally married when she was 15.

‘It’s Definitely Going To Happen’: Lil Nas X Teases Lizzo Collaboration

Lil Nas X recently told BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge in an interview that he and Lizzo have a collaboration coming down the pipe.

“It’s going to be a banger bop, everyone’s going to love it, and [Radio 1 is] going to play it three billion times,” said Lil Nas X.

Lizzo and Nas got friendly after their 2020 Grammy wins. Nas described how he and Lizzo bonded, “Probably when I went to the strip club with Lizzo. That was a pretty great time. They were playing our songs and stripping. It was a crazy night.”

The “Montero” rapper also has an idea for a “Montero” remix, “I’m feeling Rihanna right now. Rihanna, get in this damn studio.” He then said he’s hoping for a Rihanna x Bad Bunny remix.

What do you think about Lil Nas X collaborating with Lizzo, Rihanna, and Bad Bunny? Who do you think would be good on a “Montero” remix?

‘Late Late Show’ Bringing Back Audience

According to reports, The Late Late Show with James Corden will be bringing back its studio audience next week.
This move will make The Late Late Show one of the latest late-night shows to bring a live audience back since the pandemic.
Corden’s competition in the same time slot, Seth Myers, will bring back a live audience in October.
That leaves Trevor Noah as the only late-night host without a live studio audience.
What’s your favorite late-night program?

‘Friday’ Star Anthony Johnson’s Family Burdened With Funeral Costs

A.J. Johnson’s wife, Lexis Jones Mason is calling out the “fake love” she’s received since the death of her husband last month.

Lexis says if she doesn’t raise the money for a proper funeral she will cremate A.J. and go back to work promptly to cover expenses.

Man Who Caught 1991 Rodney King Beating on Video Dies of COVID

George Holliday, who opened the world’s eyes to racial injustice among police officers when he caught the Rodney King beating on video, has died of COVID-19, a friend says. He was 61 years old.
Holliday, who lost his battle with the virus Sunday in Simi Valley, California, was not vaccinated, according to longtime friend Robert Wollenweber. “Unfortunately, he didn’t want to get vaccinated,” Wollenweber says. “He wanted to get the COVID so he could build immunities — and his wish came true about a month ago.”
Holliday was thrust into the limelight in March 1991 after he captured video of L.A. cops beating King from the balcony of his apartment. The video aired repeatedly on national TV and was a key piece of evidence in the four officers’ trials. Although the cops were acquitted on all charges, two of them were later found guilty of violating King’s civil rights.
Why didn’t the Rodney King incident spark a revolution as big as the one caused by George Floyd’s death?

HU Med Students Educate DC Teens on Vaccines

Howard University College of Medicine partners with DC Public School System to encourage youth ages 12 to 17 and their parents to get vaccinated against COVID.

Washington, D.C. (Tuesday, September 21, 2021) – DC public school officials are joining forces with the Howard University College of Medicine to help inform city youth about the importance of getting vaccinated.

The partnership will have medical students serve as ambassadors to public school students ages 12 to17  and their parents to encourage the youth to “take the shot.”

From September 21-30 on Tuesdays and Thursday, Howard medical students will go to Brookland Middle School, Sousa Middle School, and Johnson Middle School. Additionally, from October 5-14, medical students will go to Columbia Heights Education Campus, Coolidge High School, and Eastern High School.

“Outreach and education are important ways to help individuals make informed decisions about vaccination,” said Hugh E. Mighty, MD, Dean of the College of Medicine. “We must continue to develop creative ways to protect our children and ensure that their educational environments are healthy and safe.”

On Wednesday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m., District students and families are invited to join a virtual Youth Vaccination Town Hall hosted by Howard University College of Medicine. At the event, Howard University College of Medicine students will share the importance of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and answer attendee questions about the vaccine. Families will be able to join the town hall by visiting bit.ly/HUyouthvax.

“We know the many benefits of our young people getting vaccinated against COVID-19: the vaccine protects their health, it protects the health of their families and school communities, and it minimizes disruptions to learning by helping our students stay in school. But our work continues to ensure families know that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe, effective, and necessary for our young people,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Mayor Bowser signed a Mayor’s Order requiring that, beginning November 1, 2021, students ages 12 and older in the District must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to participate in school-based extracurricular athletics.

The District continues to offer incentives for youth who get vaccinated. Students ages 12-17 can receive a $51 gift card or a free pair of AirPods by receiving their first shot at Brookland Middle School, Sousa Middle School, and Johnson Middle School. These sites operate Tuesday – Thursday, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All DC youth can claim their free COVID-19 vaccine at these sites regardless of which school they attend. The gift cards and AirPods are available to District youth ages 12 to 17, as well as students ages 18 to 21 and currently enrolled in a DC school seeking a high school diploma.

In addition to these incentives, all vaccinated District youth ages 12-17 will be eligible to win a $25,000 college scholarship or an iPad with a pair of Beats headphones. Eight students will be selected as potential winners of a $25,000 scholarship through the establishment of a new 529 DC College Savings Plan account, and 32 students will be selected as potential winners of a new iPad and headphones.

5 Shot In SE, DC. Gunman At-Large

A 13-year-old boy is among five people injured in a shooting this morning in SE, DC.

Washington, D.C. (September 21, 2021) – D.C. police are looking for a gunman who opened fire this morning on a crowd of people at a strip mall in SE, injuring five people, including a youth.

The gunfire erupted just after 8:30am in the 2300 block of Alabama Avenue.  Police Chief Robert Contee  had only a vague description of the gunman saying he was on foot wearing jeans, a hoodie, and gray sneakers.  He called on the community to help.

The victims’ identifies have not been released.  Chief Contee says those shot included a 13-year-old boy and two women.

Police do not have a motive for the shooting.  “We don’t know what this is about.  What I do know is that it’s unacceptable.  It’s unacceptable in the District of Columbia for somebody to brazenly shoot into a crowd of people and five people be struck at 8:30 in the morning,” said Contee.

The violence has once again unnerved residents who have seen a sharp increase in the number of homicides in the city. “We should all be sick and tired of this.  We have to hold people accountable when they commit crimes like this, added Contee.

Today’s shooting happened just blocks from the 7th District police station and not far from Garfield Elementary School.  Chief Contee says the victims’ injuries range from non-life threatening to serious.

White House Reacts to Photos of Haitian Migrants at the Border

US officials defend deportation of Haitians from Texas town.

DEL RIO, Texas (AP) —  White House press secretary Jen Psaki called the photos of  U.S. Border Customs and Border Patrol agents on horseback chasing Haitian migrants “horrible to watch”.   Psaki said more context is needed for the photos.  U.S. officials say more than 6,000 Haitians and other migrants have been removed from an encampment at a Texas border town. They also defended a strong response that included immediately deporting migrants to their impoverished Caribbean country and the use of horse patrols to stop them from entering the town. It’s a massive show of force that signals the beginning of what could be one of America’s swiftest, large-scale expulsions of migrants or refugees in decades. Three flights with 145 passengers each arrived in Port-au-Prince, and Haiti said six flights were expected on Tuesday. In all, U.S. authorities moved to expel many of the more 12,000 migrants camped around a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, after crossing from Ciudad Acuña, Mexico.

Stocks Open the Week With a Tumble

Stocks drop the most since May on worries over China, Fed

U.S. stocks had their biggest drop since May as traders worried about potential ripple effects if a debt-laden Chinese real estate company defaults and the likelihood that the Federal Reserve will signal that it will pull back its supports for markets and the economy. The S&P 500 fell 1.7% Monday. It had been down as much as 2.9% earlier. Hong Kong’s main index dropped 3.3%, its biggest loss since July, over worries that the huge Chinese developer Evergrande could collapse. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note dropped to 1.31% as investors turned to lower-risk assets.

Pfizer Vaccine Near for Ages 5 to 11

A lower dose of the Pfizer vaccine is another step closer for youngsters ages 5 to 11. The pharmaceutical announced today the vaccine is safe and effective for that age group and it plans to seek approval by the end of the month.

(Monday, September 20, 2021) – As COVID-19 continues to soar among children, there’s news this morning that a vaccine may be near for youngsters ages 5 to 11.  Pfizer announced Monday its vaccine is safe and effective for that age group and the pharmaceutical is moving to seek U.S. approval by the end of the month.

A lower dose of the vaccine, one-third of the amount given to teens and adults, is said to be safe and provides a robust immune response in children as young as 5.

The findings come as COVID cases among children now account for more than 30% of new infections in the U.S.

Pfizer’s vaccine for elementary aged youngsters must still clear several hurdles, including submitting the data to the Food and Drug Administration.

MTV VMAs: FCC Gets Complaints About Performances From Normani, Teyana Taylor & Madonna

The MTV VMAs were slapped with complaints filed with the FCC over the performances of Normani, Teyana Taylor, and Madonna’s attire.

“This programming was on at 9 pm, our children were with us watching TV. We had to make them leave the room during this porno ceremony,” one complaint letter stated.

Another viewer wrote about Normani and Teyana Taylor’s performance saying Normani, “moved upward until she was able to stick her crotch directly in Teyana’s face and on the girl’s lips exhibiting oral sex.”

Another complaint letter was displeased with Madonna’s outfit and said she “looked drunk” at the start of the show.

Do you think parents need to be held responsible for what their children watch or should television executives avoid such content?

Talks of a Fugees Reunion Resurface

Could the Fugees make a comeback? That is what Simon Boyle is reporting in his “Bizarre” column for “The Sun,” now we know that “The Sun” doesn’t always get things right but a Fugees reunion would be the biggest move of the decade.

“Lauryn, Pras, and Wyclef are still discussing what exactly they will do but they have managed to talk through everything which happened last time and feel like the time is right to return. There are loads of ideas being thrown around, including a tour, a movie, and maybe even new music — it could be their first album in 25 years. There is a lot of buzz and they all want to make it happen,” writes Boyle.

“You will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and (George W.) Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies before there will be a Fugees reunion,” said Pras in 2007.

The Fugees broke up after their 2006 tour, their 1996 hit album, “The Score” brought us hits such as “Fu-Gee-La,” “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.”

What do you think of a Fugees reunion? Do you think it will happen?

FDA Advisory Panel Recommends Against Pfizer Vax Boosters For Those 16+

Panel approves shots for those older than 65.

The twin votes Friday represented a heavy blow to the Biden administration’s sweeping effort to shore up nearly all Americans’ protection amid the spread of the highly contagious delta variant. The decision was made by a committee of outside experts who advise the Food and Drug Administration.

Lizzo Wants To Star In ‘The Bodyguard’ Remake Opposite Chris Evans

Social media was on fire earlier this week when news of the 1992 movie “The Bodyguard,” which originally starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, was being remade.

There were several suggestions as to who should be cast in the remake including, Cardi B and Channing Tatum and Tessa Thompson, and Chris Hemsworth.

But Lizzo had a better idea, she made a TikTok suggesting that she and her well-documented crush, Chris Evans should reprise the roles.

If you’ve been following Lizzo/Chris Evans news you know that the singer slid into his DMs where they chit-chatted and joked about Lizzo being pregnant with his baby.

Do you think Lizzo and Chris Evans would be good for a “Bodyguard” remake? If not, then who would you cast?

The Cannabis Business and Communities of Color

How black businesses are moving into the cannabis space.

It wasn’t that long ago that selling marijuana for any reason and in any amount could get you locked up.  Now, depending on where you live, not only is selling it legal, but it could be extremely profitable.  As with may big business opportunities, communities of color are often slow to catch on because of access to resources, information, funding and other obstacles.  That’s beginning to change along with attitudes about cannabis.  We’re talking about how black businesses are moving into the cannabis space.

Simone Biles, Aly Raisman To Testify Before Senate On Nassar Case

Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, and other Olympic gymnasts will be testifying before a Senate committee on the FBI’s failures in the Larry Nassar investigation.
The Judiciary Committee will be reviewing “fundamental” errors in the FBI’s investigation, which took more than a year to file charges – during which time Nassar molested dozens of victims.
The FBI has already fired one agent, Michael Langeman, for bungling the investigation.
Nassar was convicted on sex abuse and child pornography charges in 2018 and is serving a 175-year prison sentence. USA Gymnastics is finalizing a $425 million settlement with Nassar’s victims.
How was Nassar able to get away with his crimes for so long? How can we make sure something like this never happens again?

Amazon to Hire Another 125k Employees

If Amazon continues to grow at its current rate, the entire country could soon be employed by the Internet giant.
Amazon officials on Tuesday revealed they’re looking to fill another 125,000 open positions, many of which will pay an average of $18 an hour — $3 more than the company’s average starting pay of $15 and hour. These jobs are in addition to the 40,000 openings the company advertised earlier this month, a spokesman says.
Amazon has opened more than 250 fulfillment centers this year with plans to open 100 more later this month. Since the pandemic began, it’s hired 450,000 U.S. workers.
Would you rather work for a huge company like Amazon or a smaller business?
