Sherri Shepherd Explains Why Her Talk Show Will Return During The WGA Strike, Now Test Positive For COVID

Sherri made its return for its second season on Monday, and Sherri tried to explain why she decided to have her talk show return during the WGA strike. Shepherd said, “This summer you all may have seen your favorite actors and Hollywood stars have been on the picket lines with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.”

She continued, “There has been so much confusion about who can work and who can’t work.” She added, “Here’s the thing, talk shows in general fall under a different union contract code, so we’re allowed to come back unless you’re a WGA show. The Sherri show is not a WGA show and we have never employed WGA writers, so us coming back to work isn’t crossing the picket line.”

Sherri continued, “As a comic, my comedic take on the headlines is my voice. I write the jokes. I’m the writer…producers help me shape my words. That’s why we don’t have WGA writers.”

Wednesday Sherri announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19. “For the remainder of this week, encore episodes from the beginning of the premiere week will air,” according to the statement.

Hearing Today On RFK Stadium Site

(Washington , DC) — Congressional hearings are being held today and tomorrow to determine the future use of the old RFK Stadium site. A bill being considered would transfer control of the stadium from the federal government to the District. The terms of the transfer from the Secretary of the Interior to D.C. would reserve at least 30-percent of the stadium campus for parks and green space and restrict use of the site for a stadium, residential and commercial development or recreational and outdoor space. The transfer could facilitate the return of the Washington Commanders to RFK. The U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources meets today and a House Committee on Oversight and Accountability meets tomorrow to discuss the bill.

Diddy Details Decision To ‘Reassign’ Publishing To Bad Boy Artists

Diddy is opening up about his decision to return publishing rights to Bad Boy artists and writers.

The 53-year-old music mogul has been previously accused of “stealing” money from artists and conducting “bad” business.

The father of seven sat down for an exclusive interview with Billboard, published Wednesday.   “I decided to reassign publishing rights to the whole catalog in May or June 2021. The news is just now coming out because it took time to finalize everything… When I was looking at the catalog and everything, I was put in a position where I felt like I had to look in the mirror. I had to make sure that what I was standing for was my total truth…”

“We live in a time where things are constantly evolving. And it was about reform for me. It was me looking at ways I could reform things as a person that’s been asking for change… It was just the right and obvious thing to do; something I’m proud I did. As a businessman, there comes a time when you have to pick purpose over profit. I’m glad that I’ve seen both sides. As a businessman, I’ve evolved and was blessed to be in a position to give the publishing back.”

{WATCH} NEWSMAKERS CORNER:Best Method To Approach The School Year Post-Pandemic

Jenae Addison sits Becky Pringle, NEA President to discuss the changes students will experience this academic year.

“When we’re talking about the educator shortage. You’re seeing that a lot of the teachers are leaving, are teachers of color, and we’re talking about a diverse classroom and students, you know, being able to see someone that looks like them and getting them excited when it comes to education, how are you making sure that the classroom is diverse?”, Addison inquires.

Pringles responds, “We are not only partnering with the White House and the Department of Education, which has entered this work, and not just the recruitment of teachers writ large, but specifically focused on recruiting and retaining, which is so important. You can’t leave that out because even when we are all the work we’ve done to recruit the teachers of color, particularly black teachers, they are leaving at a disproportionate rate so that the retention of all of our teachers of color is extraordinarily important. And what we’ve learned is building community among them, making them, making them feel as though they belong in that community, making sure the school has resources.”

‘A Lot Of Black People Are F—–g Lazy’: Texas Crane Company Allowed Managers To Call Black Employees the N-Word And Displaying Nooses, Alarming EEOC Lawsuit Alleges

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing TNT Crane & Rigging, one of the big crane providers in North America, for racial discrimination against four Black employees.

In the August 24 lawsuit, the company allegedly fostered a hostile work environment for employees Edwin Crayton, Lorenzo Smith, Freddie Campbell, and Jason Pradia.

The lawsuit claims employees dealt with a field manager and colleagues using racially offensive language, including the N-word, at work. Hate symbols linked to white supremacy, such as nooses and lightning bolt stickers, were openly shown without consequences.

Smith reported in April of 2018, when he was told by a field manager, “N**ger, if you are going to b**ch about it, you can turn that truck around and take your a** home,” regarding a request to obtain an air conditioning unit.

“TNT knowingly permitted a work environment filled with racist comments and imagery. No employee should have to work in an environment openly hostile to their race, and no employee should suffer reprisal for objecting to discriminatory practices,” EEOC attorney Brian Hawthorne said in a recent news release.

Oprah Winfrey Faces Accusations Of Hiring Firefighters To Protect Her Massive Estate During Maui Wildfire After Requesting Donations

Oprah Winfrey is being accused of protecting her Hawaii estate from wildfires. Social media users claim she hired private firefighters to protect her land from the flames.

Many are still outraged by the former talk show host’s public visits to shelters where displaced residents sought refuge after losing their homes.

TikTok video claims Winfrey hired a team before the fires and didn’t help displaced people. Winfrey has lived in Maui part-time for over 15 years. The video targets shady real estate deals targeting displaced residents. One X user claims the deals helped the mogul buy her land cheaply.

Oprah and Dwayne Johnson each put up $5 million to help Maui residents. Critics aren’t happy with the billionaire mogul and millionaire actor asking people for donations. Do you think their asking for donations was wrong?

Tory Lanez Tries To Distance Himself From Canada In Bail Motion

Tory Lanez, who is serving a 10-year prison sentence, asked a judge to grant him bail while lawyers appeal his conviction.

Lanez attempted to downplay his connection to his home country in his latest attempt to regain his freedom. The Canadian artist insisted he will stay in Los Angeles if he’s released from prison, according to a bail motion obtained by reporter Meghann Cuniff.  “Although the Peterson family originally hails from Canada, they do not have strong ties to this location,” his lawyers argued.

“Mr. Peterson does have a close friend who is like family that he helps provide for her child, despite this not being his biological child. Additionally, a couple of Mr. Peterson’s siblings live in Canada but frequent the Los Angeles area to join their family.”

The motion continues, “The converse is not true, as Mr. Peterson does not visit his home country often. When he does, it is for employment and at this time he will visit his friends and family.”

Beyoncé’s IRS Battle Continues, Ordered To Pay $2.7M Plus Interest

Beyoncé has been named as having the highest-grossing female tour of all time, and now the IRS wants their cut.

According to OK! Magazine, the IRS stands by the initial assessment of the Queen’s tax bill and vows that no errors were made. The IRS wants $805,850 in taxes and $161,170 in penalties for 2018, and $1,442,747 in taxes and $288,549.40 in penalties for 2019.

The IRS will add compounded interest to Beyoncé’s tax bill until it’s paid in full. Beyoncé filed a redetermination petition against the IRS in April. She claimed the IRS made errors by disallowing various deductions, including taxes, depreciation, management fees, utilities, etc.

The singer will not have to pay anything until the final judgment from the federal court is given, as she plans to continue contesting the ruling.

Mrs.Carter isn’t the first to deal with the IRS. Neyo, Lil Kim, Nas, and Wesley Snipes are just a few to be named that have been targets of the IRS.

They are then directed to speak with a bogus tech support agent, who remotely connects with their computer and then convinces the victim to transfer money from their bank accounts into wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or gift cards. The average age of the victims is 69. The Federal Trade Commission says no legitimate tech company will contact out of the blue with messages; anyone who may have been a victim of such a scam is asked to call the police.
