Mo’Nique is fearless when it comes to her coins. She is now suing Paramount Pictures and CBS TV Studios after previously suing Netflix.

According to Deadline, Mo’Nique accuses the defendants of not sharing “The Parkers” sitcom revenue with performers. “Today we filed a lawsuit to make sure that we are fairly paid [the] money that we are owed for The Parkers,” wrote Mo’Nique on Instagram.

“Actors rely on the good faith of Hollywood companies to honor their profit participation agreements. The Parkers was a huge success and continues to be a source of revenue through syndication and streaming channels.” Mo’Nique continued saying,“The executive producers of The Parkers took legal action for the same concerns that I have, and they’ve already settled.”

She added, “To further make my point, the Executive Producers of ‘The Parkers’ took legal action for the same concerns that I have, and they’ve already settled. ORIGINAL (April 13th)

Recently, Foxx was seen photographed with actress Cameron Diaz on the set of their upcoming movie Back In Action. Diaz who signed off and retired from acting was encouraged to come back and join Foxx back on the screen since their co-starring roles in the hit movie Annie. “We just begged and pleased on my knees, like, ‘Just give the people one more again,'” he said.

As for the news on Jamie Foxx, Corinne mentions, “We know how beloved he is and appreciates your prayers. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

UPDATE (April 17th)

Jamie Foxx is steadily improving.  The actor suffered a health emergency last week and although details have not been disclosed, People magazine says the issue was severe enough for the set of his current movie, “Back in Action” to be shut down Wednesday.

Filming resumed on Thursday, using a stand-in for the actor.  People also revealed that extras were informed that a scene to be filmed on Sunday would be canceled because of “changes in production.”

There is currently much uncertainty regarding the production of “Back in Action,” which stars Cameron Diaz, who was persuaded out of her semi-retirement by Foxx.

Nick Cannon says Jamie Foxx is awake and alert. In a new interview, Cannon gave a health update on Foxx, who is recovering from a medical complication.

The TV host did not offer any details about the ailment but said, “Man, I’m praying. I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother. I know he’s doing so much better, because I’m actually about to do something special for him and doing him a favor. I can’t really say what it is, but it’ll be out there soon.”

Cannon added, “He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so we love it. That’s family right there.”

Stress Relief: The Benefits Of Laughter

Most have heard laughter is good for the soul. Noticing people that laugh can appear more youthful. Even the bible mentions the benefits of laughter.

Most have heard laughter is good for the soul. Noticing people that laugh can appear more youthful. Even the bible mentions the benefits of laughter. Proverbs 17:22 (NIV) says, “A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Laughter is a gift from God. Laughter is a great way to stay encouraged.”

Based on findings from mayoclinic.com  laughing isn’t the cure for health issues, but it does relieve stress. Laughter has both short and long-term benefits.

Some of the benefits consist of

  • Stimulate many organs.
  • Activate and relieve your stress response.
  • Soothe tension
  • Improve your immune system.
  • Relieve pain.
  • Increase personal satisfaction.
  • Improve your mood.

Here are some quotes to help remember it’s always good to have a laugh:

“Laughter heals all wounds, and that’s one thing that everybody shares. No matter what you’re going through, it makes you forget about your problems. I think the world should keep laughing.” -Kevin Hart

Howard University Announces New Faculty Addition, Stacey Abrams, As The Inaugural Ronald W. Walters Endowed Chair For Race And Black Politics

It’s just been announced that Stacey Abrams will be joining Howard University’s faculty after being appointed as the inaugural Ronald W. Walters Endowed Chair for Race and Black Politics, which will be housed in the Ronald W. Walters Leadership and Public Policy Center.

By Brianna Theophile, @itsbriannat

It’s just been announced that Stacey Abrams will be joining Howard University’s faculty after being appointed as the inaugural Ronald W. Walters Endowed Chair for Race and Black Politics, which will be housed in the Ronald W. Walters Leadership and Public Policy Center.

In this role, she will be leading – with the help of other faculty – research on political issues impacting Black Americans, as well as lead the Ronald W. Walters Speakers Series in which guests from all different perspectives are invited to speak on and converse about a range of different topics and issues.

As stated by Howard, she will lecture and hold symposiums while working across multiple academic departments as well, but won’t be working as a traditional full-time faculty member, and will reside in Georgia.

Ronald Walters, who passed in 2010, was a professor at Howard for 25 years as well as a leader and activist on issues regarding politics and race. The endowed chair was first announced a decade after his death in 2020 following a donation made by his wife, Patricia Turner Walters, of their personal collection of African American art equating to $2.5 million, and was created to carry on his legacy in Black politics.

“We are at an inflection point for American and international democracy, and I look forward to engaging Howard University’s extraordinary students in a conversation about where they can influence, shape and direct the critical public policy decisions we face.” says Abrams on her appointment. “Through this post, I hope to emulate Dr. Walter’s diasporic lens on our world and be a part of how Howard University continues to contribute to the broader political discourse.”

This serves as the next step for her after an extensive political career so far; in 2018, Abrams made history as the first African American woman to win a major party nomination for governor in the U.S. as the Democratic nominee in Georgia. She ran a second time later on in 2022, despite losing to Republican Brian Kemp.

“She continues to be an influential figure in the Democratic Party and a role model for young women and people of color who aspire to enter the policy arena.” said Howard University Provost and Chief Academic Officer Anthony K. Wutoh, PhD. “We are incredibly grateful to Ms. Abrams for her commitment to investing in the future of Howard students as the Ronald W. Walters Endowed Chair and we are pleased to welcome her to Howard University.”

Abrams will begin her multi-year appointment starting in the fall, in September.

Former Technology Executive And Founder Of CashApp Was Fatally Stabbed In San Francisco

Bob Lee, a former technology executive who helped in the launch of CashApp and chief product officer of the cryptocurrency platform MobileCoin, was killed from a stabbing attack in downtown San Francisco early Tuesday morning, as confirmed by police and his employer, MobileCoin.

By Brianna Theophile, @itsbriannat

Bob Lee, a former technology executive who helped in the launch of CashApp and chief product officer of the cryptocurrency platform MobileCoin, was killed from a stabbing attack in downtown San Francisco early Tuesday morning, as confirmed by police and his employer, MobileCoin.

In a press release from the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded to the report of a stabbing on Main Street at 2:35 a.m. and found a 43-year-old man suffering from life-threatening stabbing wounds, later to be confirmed as Bob Lee. After being brought to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel.

London Breed, mayor of San Francisco, reacted to the news by calling it “a horrible tragedy”, and says more details will be shared soon as the police are still investigating Lee’s death, with no arrests made currently.

San Francisco has been experiencing an apparent rise in crime post-pandemic, and the fatal attack of Lee has raised concern of safety for many residents in the neighborhood of the stabbing.

However, Kimberly Richman, a professor of criminal justice and legal studies at the University of San Francisco, says that the homicidal rate in San Francisco has actually remained low, and appears to be more alarming than it is due to the increase of cases by a few each year. She also attributes this rise in discourse to the fact that Lee was white and high-profile in status.

“A high-profile murder like Bob Lee, who was a white, wealthy, upper-class public figure in a neighborhood you don’t associate with crimes rates, it’s going to seem like it’s here too and out of control,” says Richman. “We know there’s a lot more attention paid to violent crimes and murder in which there was a white victim, and so these cases really grab the public’s attention.”

Singer And Actress Brandy Reprises Her Role Of Cinderella In Disney Descendants’ Spin-off, After 26 Years

After 26 years after the premiering of the 1997 Rodger and Hammerstein’s ”Cinderella” starring prominent celebrities such as Whitney Houston as the “Fairy Godmother” and Whoopi Goldberg as “Queen Constantina”, actress and singer Brandy reprises her iconic role as Cinderella in Disney’s upcoming Descendants spin-off, “Descendants: Rise of Red”.

By Brianna Theophile, @itsbriannat

After 26 years after the premiering of the 1997 Rodger and Hammerstein’s ”Cinderella” starring prominent celebrities such as Whitney Houston as the “Fairy Godmother” and Whoopi Goldberg as “Queen Constantina”, actress and singer Brandy reprises her iconic role as Cinderella in Disney’s upcoming Descendants spin-off, “Descendants: Rise of Red”.

Accompanying her once again is Paolo Montalban, who will also be reprising the role of Prince Charming, playing both the King and Queen in the Descendants universe, as shown in footage from the film’s official first look.

The original 1997 film was applauded for its innovative multicultural casting for the time and won an Emmy for Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety or Music Program.

Brandy credits the film’s producers for her casting, including Whitney Houston, Debra Martin Chase, Craig Zadan, and Neil Meron, in which she said the following: “I feel like it opened doors… It’s because of them that I was able to be that person to help open the doors for so many other young artists that want to do things that they probably think are impossible.”

The Descendants franchise focuses on the lives of the children of Disney’s most legendary princesses, princes, and villains. The spin-off “Descendants: Rise of Red” is centered on the journey of Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, as they travel back in time in order to save their home, the kingdom of Auradon.

In Brandy’s words, the release of the film feels like “divine timing”. She also adds, “This was like a dream come true so I’m just so glad that this new generation has this beautiful piece to enjoy.”

As of today, Disney+ has yet to announce the film’s release date, but it is speculated to be released either later on in the year or in early 2024.

Halle Berry did a great job of getting back at a troll who made fun of her for posting a naked picture online. The Oscar-winning actor posed nude for the photo on Saturday, April 8, while leaning on a balcony railing and holding a glass of wine.

“I do what I wanna do,” she captioned it, adding: “Happy Saturday.” Of course, the post brought out the trolls, one who commented, “Imagine being in your fifties, still posting nudes for attention in menopause when you should be chilling with the grandkids. Aging with dignity is no longer a thing.”

Halle wasn’t here for the disrespect, so she clapped back most amazingly, replying, “Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its head?”

Actor and singer Audra McDonald told Berry in response: “You won the internet today with this clap back.“

“Ms. Berry I see you’re on 10 today…and I APPROVE,” Anastasia Beaverhausen added, while radio personality Kaylah Oniwo said: “I stan a solid clap back ! Whew.”

Justice Clarence Thomas Accepted Trips From Donor

Justice Clarence Thomas is raising eyebrows over a new report that claims he has accepted luxury trips from a Republican megadonor without disclosing them.

Justice Clarence Thomas is raising eyebrows over a new report that claims he has accepted luxury trips from a Republican megadonor without disclosing them.

Experts say his failure to report the flights appears to violate a law passed after Watergate that requires justices, judges, members of Congress, and federal officials to disclose most gifts, even private jets.

Brian Fallon, the executive director of Demand Justice called for the Senate to not let “this extraordinary display of corruption and lawbreaking go unanswered.”

“Senate Democrats cannot force Thomas to resign or give him the impeachment trial he clearly deserves, but they can hold hearings to further expose Justice Thomas’ apparent lawbreaking and the Republican justices’ deep ties to far-right donors,” Fallon continued.

The trips reportedly appeared nowhere on Thomas’ financial disclosures. The extent and frequency of Crow’s apparent gifts to Thomas have no known precedent in the modern history of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Audit Reveals Massive MD Toll Overcharges

The accounts identified in the audit as having been over-billed have received refunds.

(Annapolis, MD) — A recent audit conducted by an arm of the Maryland General Assembly is showing that thousands of drivers were overcharged at state toll facilities. The review of data between April 2021 and January 2022 found the Maryland Transportation Authority collected more than a million bucks in potentially improper tolls from around 90-thousand customers. The MDTA provided a variety of reasons for the errors, but says all the accounts identified in the audit as having been overbilled have received refunds. Technical issues with electronic tolling were tied to many of the incorrect charges.

On Monday, April 3, First Lady Jill Biden stated that she wanted both the national champions Louisiana State University and the defeated Iowa women’s basketball team to come to the White House.

She sat in the stands for LSU’s win over Iowa 102-85 on Sunday, April 2. In the final seconds of LSU’s victory over Iowa, LSU star Angel Reese waved her hand in front of her face and stared down Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.

“I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come. But, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game,” Jill Biden said.

She then pointed to her finger as if to indicate that a ring was coming. Following the game, social media exploded, with some claiming it was just game-related trash talk and others criticizing Reese for showing no respect in winning. Clark, however, has previously made a similar gesture.

Many shared Reese’s disappointment with the first lady’s comment.

“No Ma’am!” Keith Boykin, former Clinton White House aide, wrote. “When Black women win a national championship, they should not be forced to share the stage with the losing team.”

Howell Wayans’ the father of the famous family passed away at 86. He is the adored father to one of the most influential families we all know and love. His cause of death is currently unknown.

Saturday comedian, Eunice Elliot took to social media stating that she was, “honored to share the stage with my friend Marlon Wayans as he performed two sold-out shows after learning of the death of his father hours earlier.”

“His village showed up for him. I’m proud to be a small part of that village and honored to have been a part of this special evening,” she continued.

Paying tribute to their father, Marlon recalls a moment with his father, “When I was a child I asked my Dad what did you want to be when grew up? He simply said “I wanted to be a man,” I said “not a lawyer? A doctor? An actor?” He said “just a man” I said “but every boy becomes a man” Dad said “Not true”. I asked, “then what’s a man?” My Dad said “A man takes care of himself and his responsibilities. His family is always FIRST”.
From that day on I wanted to be a MAN.”

He continues, “Thank you Pop for being an example of a Man to all your boys. I pray all young black boys can grow up to be a Man like you. Baby boy loves you. And if ever I need you I know exactly where to find you… in my Bible that now sits by bed. Rest well. Kiss Ma for me. Tell her her babies miss her. I got two angels. I feel y’all lifting me already. If there’s a heaven I know you sitting in VIP sippin’ the best wine Jesus can make…”

The late Howell and Elvira raised 10 amazing children. Elvira passed away three years ago. Friends of the family pay their tributes like actor Omar Epps and Writer Mitchell Marchand describing their love for Howell calling him “a true father.”

Always finding a way to “find the humor” in the darkest moments, Marlon posted another photo of their father saying, “My man 50 grand. Every time I sip a hood wine I’ll think of you.”

Teyana Taylor recently spoke about her role in the film, “A Thousand and One,” about a young mother who spent years and jail and, upon her release, plans to kidnap her son from the foster care system.

In the film set in 1994, Teyana pays the mother of “Terry,” and the story unfolds from when Terry is 6 until he turns 17. “I learned a lot in just how to deal with a teenager and a person coming up into themselves,” Taylor tells Complex. “It was amazing, and I always wanted a son. So to be able to have sons in a movie was pretty great.”
