VA Supreme Court Paves Way For Lee Monument Removal
(Richmond, VA) — The path is clear for the removal of the Robert E. Lee Monument in Richmond, Virginia. The state Supreme Court denied challenges to the monument’s removal in two opinions. The court found a group of neighbors had no viable reason to sue. Also, the 1890s deed restriction that would require the state maintenance of the monument was found to be unenforceable. Governor Ralph Northam first announced plans to take the statue down over a year ago. However, those lawsuits stood in the way until now.

Pharrell Williams is extending flowers to the G.O.A.T. Charlie Wilson. The producer spoke with Variety about the former leader of The Gap Band saying, “My parents used to play that music, and it’s always been an honor to work with Uncle Charlie.”
Pharrell has collaborated with “Uncle Charlie” many times. The masterminds came together for Pharrell’s 2006 song, “That Girl,” which was featured on his debut solo album, “In My Mind.”
They released five collaborations with Snoop Dogg, including the hit “Beautiful” and in 2013 Pharrell and Snoop hit the BET Awards stage to pay tribute to the iconic singer.
“Seeing him get his flowers so many times with Kanye and Tyler, the Creator,” says Pharrell, “and just continuing to be out there, still doing it and sounding amazing.”

Hurricane Ida, back to school in the DMV, recapping the March On Washington, and gun violence in our communities.

The base says it can support up to fifty-thousand evacuees.

Recovery effort is being led by FEMA.
The president said Monday that state officials should contact the White House if they need additional support — even though the effort is being led by FEMA.
“We’ll get you what you need if we can,” Biden said. “The people of Louisiana and Mississippi are resilient. But it’s in moments like these where we can certainly see the power of government to respond to the needs of the people, if government’s prepared and if they respond.”
Also Monday, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said it had activated its Hurricane Response Team as Hurricane Ida made its way through the Gulf.

Based on data from offshore operator reports submitted as of late morning Monday, personnel have been evacuated from a total of 288 production platforms, 51.43 percent of the 560 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
Personnel have been evacuated from 11 rigs, equivalent to 100% of the 11 rigs of this type currently operating in the Gulf. Rigs can include several types of offshore drilling facilities.
A total of seven dynamically positioned rigs have moved off location out of the storm’s projected path, as a precaution.
It is estimated that approximately 94.6% of the current oil production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut in, according to operator reports.
The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement estimates that approximately 93.57% of the gas production in the Gulf has been shut in.
Production information included in these reports is based on the amount of oil and gas the operator expected to produce that day. The shut-in production figures therefore are estimates, which the agency compares to historical production.
The facilities will be inspected after the storm has passed.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A fearsome Hurricane Ida has left scores of coastal Louisiana residents trapped by floodwaters and pleading to be rescued, while making a shambles of the electrical grid across a wide swath of the state in the sweltering, late-summer heat. One of the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit the U.S. mainland has now weakened into a tropical storm as it pushes inland over Mississippi with torrential rain and shrieking winds. No major flooding was reported inside the flood control system that protect New Orleans, but with communications spotty and no power, the extent of the damage across the city was not immediately clear.
Video of Nene making the announcement at her lounge in Atlanta went viral over the weekend when she responded to guests claiming she was rude for not taking pictures and saying Happy Birthday. She went on to say she wasn’t in the mood because her husband is currently at home dying and the only reason she dropped by was because it’s her business and she needed to be there. “You never know what a person is going through. Be kind,” Nene told patrons.

People had a lot to say after the third listening party for Kanye’s highly anticipated “DONDA” album.
The third installment of the “DONDA” listening party was held at Chicago’s Soldier Field and the event was streamed on Apple Music.
Two controversial artists were also present during the event and they replaced two artists who were previously featured and fans are questioning Kanye’s actions.
DaBaby and Marilyn Manson were at the event, who are both being scrutinized in the public, DaBaby due to his homophobic comments which he made during this year’s Rolling Loud Festival, and Manson who is being accused of abuse by several women including his ex-fianceé, Evan Rachel Wood.
Kanye replaced JAY-Z’s verse on the album with one from DaBaby and Kid Cudi was removed from the album, this had fans questioning Kanye and wondering how he could go from Gospel music to having DaBaby and Marilyn Manson by his side.
What do you think of Kanye having DaBaby and Marilyn Manson at his “DONDA” event?
